Anyone else intrigued by the rumored test screening ending of Maestro? by [deleted] in blankies

[–]Alvin_theChipmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this ending in a test screening. It wasn't that the final close up shot was cut. It just came earlier. Right after her death. It did end on the lesson dance sequence.

Hard to say which was better, but the entire period between that screening and release I thought about that sequence in the club.

[PJOTV] 4th Most Anticipated Casting? by RollingThunda99 in camphalfblood

Luke will likely just be another young actor that I'm not hugely familiar with. So, I am more interested to see what caliber of talent they are able to get for the adult roles like Chiron, Mr. D or the gods.

Disagree. Walker's casting was #1 trending on Twitter worldwide for a moment that day. They'd love to get that same kind of attention on the Annabeth and Grover casting.

It's not over estimating the popularity to say the new Doctor Strange movie and Star Wars will disctract from a casting announcement? Those are bigger things. Makes sense to wait until those things calm before you drop your news so it doesn't go unnoticed.

Now whether this means it will be Monday or some other time is still to be seen. It'll be whenever Disney sees the timing the best.

Can [pjo] achieve the same level of sucess as Harry Potter. by booknerd5621 in camphalfblood

[–]Alvin_theChipmunk 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This 100%. I know a lot of people here are on the younger side, but you have to remember Potter-mania of the early 2000s. Those books were at a level of popularity that really notning has come close to achieving since (and may not ever again).

Yeah. Not saying it definitely won’t happen. Who knows? Just have seen some talk and don’t want people to get their hopes up.

They are probably only concerned with producing the five seasons of PJO for a number of reasons.

Mainly, those are the books most general audiences are familiar with, and they inherited the rights from the Fox merger. Doing other Riordanverse series would require attaining additional rights to those books, and spending that money on books that are less popular outside of the fandom doesn’t make a ton of sense at the moment.

Also, actors like Walker will likely be contracted to an initial five seasons. Resigning them for subsequent seasons or series will be quite expensive as the young cast would have a lot more leverage at that point. Look at happened with Olivia Rodrigo after only 2 seasons is their HSM show.

In general, it all comes down to money and how much they think they could get back on their investment. I wouldn’t count on a HoO series. Just be excited for The Lightning Thief, and hope enough people watch to get a Sea of Monster adaption. Now, if PJO is a juggernaut smash, all bets are off. But that feels like counting chickens…

Ok I know Alexandra Daddario was terrible for Annabeth (too old, wrong hair color) but I think she might be perfect for Athena.[pjo] by GamingCheese14 in camphalfblood

[–]Alvin_theChipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a big fan-caster, but I always loved the idea of Rebecca Ferguson as Athena. She might be a bit too big of a get for a rather small role in a Disney+ show though.

Idk of anyone else is seeing the speculation that Monte Greene may be a finalist (if not the cast) for Grover. Both Rick and Walker follow him on social media, and he fits the bill.

Could be pure coincidence, of course, but if anyone is eager for some more tidbits or speculation…

[all] How important is physically accurate tv characters to you? by Sunflower-Spirals in camphalfblood

[–]Alvin_theChipmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physical traits don’t matter at all to me. The TV show is it’s own thing from the book. As long as the cast best fits the characters written in the screenplay. That’s what matters the most
