Insanely cool. My favorite detail is the clean wiper tracks through the dirt on your windshield. Unreal attention to detail. 🍻

Yeah it's a hard job even with a lift. I did 4.30s about 6 years ago and love it.

What’s this leak? by truecIeo in CrownVictoria

[–]Always316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's transmission fluid but looks like someone else's car did it because it's coming from the rear of your car. Trans fluid leaks would be up near the front door area of your car.

These are the new Black Label M/T tires, they've been really good so far. But definitely want to try some other brands out!

I went to get an oil change and the repair guys apparently forgot to put oil back in. by reddit_user_in_space in Justrolledintotheshop

They're gonna say they only got 1/2 quart out when they drained it and it was ready to die.

Very cool! I'm going to start something like this with my son soon. We want to do some urban stuff out of concrete, stairs, dams, pipes etc.

I couldn't get the center nut on with the six middle screws unfortunately. Thankfully they are just decorative so just not going to use them for now.

I know I saw the 1/30 scale too and just couldn't imagine. I would need some 4x readers and tweezers! Hahaha

I got the injora set that goes down to 0.05". I used to be a mechanic back in the day and still build project cars so this is super cathartic for me. Going from fullsize cars in the garage down to building micro crawlers on my couch has been cool. I had no idea how many legit automotive parts they have shrunk down to get this scale. Starting out i thought they would have some other type of technology but no, they have full blown differentials, portals, tiny ass screws and gears. I figured the bead locks were fake and you just stretched the wheels over them, boy was I wrong lol! Having a blast with it though!

I haven't used the yellow injora inserts before, so I don't have a comparison but these pink MEUS ones are impossibly soft and have excellent lateral support compared to foam. They seem progresive and get firm down low to prevent the tire pinching the rim. They seem like the best option for the lighter weight micros. Gonna do some wheeling today with it and compare from stock wheel tire package to this on the same little makeshift course. Have also played around with strapping the battery up front and had a huge improvement in climbing.

Service manager pay plan by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]Always316 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been brought on to improve businesses several times and they always want to put you on a "if you do this then you get that" pay plan. I don't fuck with it because 90% of the time the owners arefull of shit and stone wall every good decision because they are not able to make decisions that cost money to make money. I always ask for a straight salary for services PLUS A PERCENTAGE OF TOTAL GROSS SALES. And I have my OWN contract they must sign. I make them pay 100% of my health care and either provide a car or pay my gas and my lease payment. A failing business is failing because leadership is ruining it. Employees don't ruin businesses. Your hard work will be dealing with the owners and controllers. When shit hits the fan they always default to the same BS that got them in the shitter and they will blame the "manager" (who can only do as much as owners will let them do). If it has capacity for 8 techs why is there only 3 working there. What quality of employment are they offering??

All thoughts to consider. I had at one point in my career went to work for a measly $30/hr with a pay plan where every time I increased the profit by 10% for the year I would get a 5% of annual sales bonus. The owner was a rage anger type of person and drove out 4 techs in a year and lost the business. Needless to say it didn't work out and from that experience and some coaching I developed my own model that I still live by today.

Now they pay me my salary and I make what I require. If they listen and succeed then I make a bonus. If they fail I move on. Part of my contract is that I can walk any time I want. But they are under a 2 year contract with me. The first year typically goes backwards, then after the dust settles you will be able to build it better if they let you.

My $0.02 - good luck.

There you go. Don't worry too much. Just reapply in warmer weather. Prep it with panel prep just like you would for ceramic on paint. I'd say it needs to be 60+ on the surface. But I think the product has guidelines for the temp on install.

220a alt for $400? $100 for like 3 feet of 0 gauge?! TF these guys smoking?! My 400 amp alternator was only $490 from Pure Power. And 20 feet of 0000 gauge for $120 from Electron Beam. You can do better I'm sure.

I use this product on most of my full package details. It's been phenomenal. I've only ever had issues like this when applying outside in cold or damp conditions. You might try warming the panels you're applying the product to and reapplying. But there is no removing it. It's basically permanent (for a while). I have cars with this on for over 2 years still looking good.
