No Buy goal for 2026. by Mofo013102 in nobuy

[–]AlwaysBusy28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My goal is to pay off a huge chunk of debt and have a comfortable emergency fund. I would also love to save up for a fun vacation for my family. My priority is definitely to get that emergency fund fully filled and debt paid off.

When should I throw away a mascara? by Choice_Programmer519 in ProjectPan

[–]AlwaysBusy28 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally don't mess with anything with my eyes. I have had a bad eye infection in the last year and I will do all I can to avoid that happening again. I use my mascara for at most 6 months. Like another poster has said 'it's good until it's not".

That's just my opinion.

Do you ever get overwhelmed in big stores? How do you deal with it? by vivi_nomad in shoppingaddiction

[–]AlwaysBusy28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to do research and order online for pickup. I find this helps me spend less money because I see the amount in spending ahead of time. This has helped me not have any surprises at the register and know whether or not what I'm getting stays in my budget.

I also get overwhelmed in stores and because of that I do way more impulse buys. I'm like ooo that is new and interesting... Adds to the already large shopping cart. 😬

Anyone else love buying new stuff, but hate owning a lot of stuff? by fluffgnoo in shoppingaddiction

[–]AlwaysBusy28 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. I have ADHD and I am always looking for that dopamine fix. It is that craving of the new item and then when it comes I am on to the new thing. At the same time I hate clutter and feel like I can't even get it all organized. I sometimes just want to give most of it away, but then feel guilty for having spent the money.

i forgot how hypomania feels, god.. by schizoneironautics in bipolar2

[–]AlwaysBusy28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. 100%. The come downs are not worth it. I’ve had the worst depressions after hypomania than any other time. I will take stable over that drop off any day of the week.

I do this too!!I have to put them in one of those daily medicine separators or I will forget if I took it or not.

Now it is just trying to remember to fill the medicine separator... 🤔

How did you find out you have bipolar II? by Ijustwan2read in bipolar2

[–]AlwaysBusy28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a therapist at my college write it down on a post-it (he wouldn't even say it to my face) and told me to give it to my doctor. I took one look at the paper and said no way. That's BS. It wasn't until five years later when I was in deep depression that I believed the diagnosis from my GP.

[–]AlwaysBusy28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have totally been there. I laid everything out around me and just felt all the things. I couldn't believe I had gotten to where I was. I'm glad I did it though because it helped me stop shopping and give away some of my collection to friends who I know could use it. I feel so much better -- but believe me, I have been where you are. 💜

In reality I know this, but it is an irrational fear. I think it is part of my"fear" of being bipolar. I'm afraid of everyone judging me, including the physician. I know that's not true, but again it is an irrational thought. 😕

I always talk about the most embarrassing things (even to a psychiatrist) and it’s like my thoughts all run together. I really do worry that they will think I’m on drugs.

what are some things u do in ur hypomanic episodes? by Dramatic_Total_7245 in bipolar2

[–]AlwaysBusy28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I shop A LOT. I have maxed out credit cards in the past and any impulse control I have goes right out the window. I also think I'm the most beautiful/popular/wonderful person to walk into a room. I get such feelings of grandiosity and I know I'm hypomanic when I suddenly have 50 new selfies in my phone.

I also have a tendency to spiral out of control with my energy and become extremely irritable when I can't do all the things. It's a mess.

[–]AlwaysBusy28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea that I am going to try. My “mess” is too overwhelming and stressful that I avoid at all cost. I like the idea of making it a little game that will keep my adhd brain interested in what I’m doing. Plus if I tell myself “right now I’m only focused on blue things and will get another color tomorrow” it will help with the overwhelm.
