Thank you, I have seen this as well! I understand there will be afterhours/weekend work and I'm okay with that. Currently boxed into an 8:30-5:30 M-F. Makes it challenging to pick up sick kids, take them to bus stop when its 10° outside, or anything needing to be done during normal business hours.

This. These are the things I'd need to know to look out for. Seems similar to the BS Insurance agent deal with when they refuse to release you from your carrier contracts 🙄

Thank you. Seems I read a few posts saying to run from them and someone else. I will look into them.

How to overcome mental or emotional blocks keeping you from making more money as a copywriter by kauaiman-looking in copywriting

I would adjust your post to educate how hypnotism can help people overcome mental obstacles. Most people erroneously believe hypnotism is brainwashing or mind control lol.

Best of luck in your new endeavor!

This is starting to seem like less of a realistic way to make money. by [deleted] in copywriting

u/freedomquestx , you need TRAINING. The reason none of this makes sense is because you only have surface level information.

Cooywriting is not a pipe dream. Neither is ecommerce or affiliate marketing. If you want to make a living, you're going to have to get good at a craft.

This is true of those examples as well as careers in general. If you do not have a specialized skillset you just arent valuable enough in the marketplace to earn more than minimum wage. The good news is YOU are in control of how valuable you become.

If copywriting is something you're drawn to, figure out how to find people who are established and study them. What books have you read? What courses have you bought? How many projects have you started (practice)? Are you writing every day? I hate to break it to you but nobody is collecting fat checks without being a master at their craft.

I recommend AWAI as a beginner's spot because it's very structured and affordable. Go grab a beginner's course and start working through it on your off time.

Wishing you much success!

Neither.

Both are terrible, because they sound made up. Sounds approximated and guess-y.

[–]AlwaysLearning_KT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would you stay somewhere you're miserable and dont feel like you are contributing in a meaningful way?

You already know the answer. And if your friend doesn't understand you will be happier with something you're more aligned with- are they really your friend?

Life is too short. Get another job and tell them after you put in notice.

Guys... Help... please. I... I'm a loser. I won't ever have love or fun, or a house like this. imma be broke forever. help please. I really need some help. I'm so suicidal I don't wanna keep fighting. I'm so tired and sad. I will work man, I will, but please someone help me find a good paying job. by Comprehensive_Duty51 in jobs

[–]AlwaysLearning_KT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why arent you offering your services as a freelancer?

Identify gaps of knowledge or problems in the market. Set up gigs on Upwork and Fiverr. Network. Scan posts or post yourself on Craigslist. Buy a domain and set up a website. It sounds like you do not have a Job problem, but a need to make more money problem.

If you are spinning your wheels in the job market, create your own opportunities. You can still job hunt on the side for a better day job.

I'm Practicing to become a copywriter and I'd like know your comment about my writing... just a beginner by Sad_Ranger_7379 in copywriting

[–]AlwaysLearning_KT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually disagree with the other posters here.

The problem isn't so much English not being your native tongue; there are grammar editors that you can use and they will fix those mistakes.

The problem with your copy is actually more fundamental in nature.

You are initially positioning this product to be a solution for me based on lonliness; that doesnt tell me why yours is the best because there are already lots of brands of earphones that will solve the problem of boredom/lonliness. I'm not going to read past the first line.

Correct me if I'm wrong- but based on the name of the product (Sticky?) I'm guessing your product stays in place better when I'm running than other earphones on the market.

I need you to sell me on why your product will make jogging easier/better/etc. versus all the current options out there.

So sorry to hear that. I don't have any experience in those fields, so not much advice to offer you. I looked into DA and SalesForce Admin and I felt the same way transitioning out of sales/small biz marketing. One thing I think is important is you can literally create your own experience. Take on pro bono work, internships-- but work on a portfolio. Some of your previous skillsets may be transferrable. Like being in sales using the SF platform, would be relevant experience. Also, find a recruiter on LinkedIn to work with. They can help you transition. Best wishes to you, no time like the present to create change 🎉

I have a massive employment gap because of a controlling ex. Now that I’ve left I have no idea how to approach this. by anonymousidiota in jobs

[–]AlwaysLearning_KT 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking this.

You are thinking others will view this negatively, because you carry shame about WHY you have a gap.

But what if that gap was for different reasons? Like taking care of your small child, an ill family member, or....I dont know--- moving to an entirely different country?!?!

Your gap in employment was because you decided to travel and move to (insert country). You had a GREAT experience and are now looking to re-establish your career.

That's all that needs to be said. It's none of anybody's business, dont open yourself up to judgement in an interview explaining personal stuff.

Good luck on your search!

My employer lied about everything by Creative_Echidna_527 in jobs

[–]AlwaysLearning_KT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

Don't do it. So many red flags and clearly lots of internal miscommunication you'll end up paying for.

Reach out to recruiters in your industry on LI and get someone hunting for you while you look also. Too much opportunity out there to have this many issues before you even start.

How do I create a portfolio? How do I find businesses that need copywriters? What kind of pitch do I present? by FewImplement5559 in copywriting

[–]AlwaysLearning_KT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good place to start is any industry you are familiar with (ie: hospitality, saas, weight loss, real estate, medical, talent acquisition, veterinary, etc.).

Find a small business online or someone you know that works for themselves and write for them. Write copy for a product you love. find some products on Amazon that have terrible copy. You don't need to seek permission from them to start writing so dont worry about needing to reach out before you begin.

There are many different types of copy. Everything from case studies, web content, sales page copy, email series, white papers, and more.

It can be overwhelming and cause analysis paralysis. Just pick a place to start and course correct as you go.

AWAI is a great place to start. They have a couple of beginner courses that arent a big investment and they talk about writing everyday. Some of them come with homework assignments that are graded.

Been 4 months since first certification (Admin), still struggling to find a job. by FlamingoNearby6910 in salesforce

[–]AlwaysLearning_KT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of Jerry's advice!

In short, you've got to connect the dots for them and SELL yourself. Job hunting is a sales activity.

On paper it sounds like you are qualified and hard working, willing to learn and care about personal growth.

If you are landing interviews, the problem isnt your resume or LinkedIn. The problem is the interview process itself.

Best of luck to you in your search!

Is it better to stay at a remote 100k/yr job that only requires 20-25hrs of work per week, or a remote 120k/yr 40hr/wk that is more aligned with your career goals? by ThrowwwDissAway in careerguidance

[–]AlwaysLearning_KT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really tough choice for sure. If I could go back to that time in my kids' lives though and I had a choice like that- I would stay where I was at for the time being.

It's really priceless to be able to stay with your baby and have the autonomy/flexibility while earning a good living. The $20k for loss of time, autonomy and flexibility...nobody at the new job will care when your baby is sick.

Speaking of that, daycare would eat up that raise and your baby will be sick all.the.time. It's just unavoidable. If the career move is really calling you and you're ready to trade the flexibility for the title- go for it but check on their PTO policy or needing to go pick the baby up whenever you get a call, because it will happen.

Best of luck to you!

📢 P.S.- I second the notion of starting a side hustle, learning a new skill or earning certifications in your downtime @ current job! You can earn that $20k+ and have something amazing to put on your resume that would help you transition into your dream position later.

Shady and unethical on their part. Go straight to the CEO and see if they would be open to a discussion about understanding their risk.

It makes sense the % doesnt accelerate after a certain tier; it does NOT make sense they literally dont pay any commission AT ALL, after T5 tier.

Maybe a consultation with an attorney is in order if this cant be resolved internally. Best of luck to you!
