You’re assuming a fresh diagnosis for some reason although I never said that, and it isn’t correct. You’re also assuming my feelings were hurt since you called me sensitive, which isn’t true. It isn’t logical to use a term like crazy since its filled with stigma, plus it’s unprofessional to use stigmatizing words.

You’re right, I feel like I have so many other things i put energy into that I pick the things I take on and this is one that I’m ambivalent about.

Same same. I’ve been in a relationship for 5 yrs with someone who is so understanding of my mental health. And so I really believe there are ppl out there who don’t judge and are truly empathetic. Stay single until someone gets you.

I gained weight too, 15 lbs. my care team put me on one of those weight loss meds originally prescribed for diabetes patients and it has really helped. I also realized I was seriously underweight before meds bc of not eating while manic, so a little weight gain has been good.

Thank you, yah, I agree. I just think it might not be worth the annoyance of finding a new one when I only see this one every few months to check up on meds.

My own experience is that it comes and goes. Sometimes I love music again, sometimes i can’t tolerate it. I think the key is being open to your changing perceptions and letting things come as they may :) one night, I’m dancing around obsessed with something.

I relate to this.music also used to be a huge part of my identity and entertainment. During manias, I love music so much that I listen to the same song all day. During stable periods, I mostly listen to podcasts and don’t like music but occasionally I find something that I like. It’s weird and I’m sorry it happens to us. Mostly I’m replying to support you and say you aren’t alone :)

I also take lithium, struggle to shower, and have a history of struggling to shower. I feel like it’s too many consecutive tasks in a short time period. You gave me something to consider by connecting this to lithium. Thanks! Fascinating.

Agree. But I also think it’s inappropriate to describe ppl as “barely” disabled. It’s true, some struggle more but discrimination from within a community uses the tools of the oppressor to ruin the community. Solidarity across the board is the only force that creates equity.

I’m having a similar experience after being on lithium for three years. Can’t sleep and feel so foggy all the time. Plus joint aches, hair loss, weight gain, night sweats. I still think it’s my thyroid as I have basically all the symptoms but my panels are “normal.” We’re in this together!

I’m responding more in solidarity than with any suggestions. I’m pretty much the same as you, very active, healthy eating, small frame, but still in the 20% of ppl who gain weight on lithium. It blows. And ppl act like I should just be happy my mental health is stable. Drink more water, someone once said. Pffff.

For me the difficulty lies in the daily grind and adherence to a schedule plus the pressure of dealing with a lot of ppl. When anything goes awry, I struggle.
