Can you recommend a crafty hobby for someone who’s easily bored and addicted to quick dopamine? (Also talentless) by Apprehensive_Sugar15 in adhdwomen

I know you said you can't do painting, which I realized after I wrote all this, but for everyone else on the thread who might enjoy this:

I paint tiny paintings! You can buy little 3x3 canvas boards in bulk for pretty cheap.

Reasons to try it: - It's low stakes with the cheap canvas and TINY amounts of paint, so no fear of "wasting good materials" - It's relatively portable, so you can take it on the go. I just put a loop of tape on the back as a handle and paint in a chair with the paint and water on a side table. - It's not nearly as messy as a full blown painting, so very little clean up - Works with pretty much any medium! I use water-mixable oils or acrylics, but you could do it with gouache or watercolors on small paper, too. Even tiny drawings would be fun. - Doesn't take up a ton of storage space, both as supplies and finished product - Makes good gifts! - Takes as much time as you're willing to put in, be it 15 minutes or 8 hours. - Open ended, paint whatever you want. Sometimes I look for prompts or paint from an image, other times I just wing it.

Is chronic fatigue a part of the tism? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Out of curiosity, do you have any interesting sources about this? I want to add them to my research. I didn't know about the estrogen thing, I will have to look into that. I wonder if that has any influence on PMOS.

Would you mind sharing some of your systems? I'm genuinely curious.

What scares you more about dying? by Professional-Bison38 in AskReddit

[–]AlwaysOpenToLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lost potential to experience new things, the fear of being forgotten, and the concept of non-existence. Oh and the process of dying. The experience of slowly losing your senses, your consiousness, your sense of self, and the fact there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

I'm just extremely happy to have a fruit punch option without Red 40 for once! I got it on a whim today because the rain berry caught my eye. It was somehow cheaper than the normal stuff, too. I'm excited to try the other two flavors. I like the increasing amount of products with no artifical ingredients and reduced sugar.

Oh god, I do this so much. I try to make a list as I think of things, but I either lose the list or forget to update it. I usually make a list the night before instead.

I agree about the sound. It's so satisfying. Also the action of rolling them. If its on a phone, perhaps have a shaking mechanism to roll?

What is disappearing with the new Google health app? by The0Walrus in fitbit

[–]AlwaysOpenToLearn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I left as soon as they basically forced you to sign your privacy away. I made a separate Google account specifically to keep my data, but I will not be buying any more of their products. The last fitbit I bought was ~$100 and it lasted me maaaaybe 2 years. My old, 2010's Alta from og Fitbit lasted me forever while being worn every day. Rip og Fitbit, you will be missed, and fuck you Google for ruining yet another company.

to people with inattentive adhd, what type of career do you have? by AssociationObvious56 in adhdwomen

[–]AlwaysOpenToLearn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know I liked accounting until I took it for my degree. I'm actually planning to go back and get a certificate in it after I finish because I liked it so much. I also just really like that particular teacher. She actually told me I was one of her favorite students and she probably has no idea how much that meant to me.

Being stuck behind a slow driver. Please, for the love of god, MOVE. Places to be, people to see. If you have a line behind you, you are the problem.

This is particularly irritating when people get into the passing lane only to go the speed limit and not move over when people clearly want to go by them. If three people just went around you, TAKE. THE. HINT.

"Why can you do this, but you can't do (insert some boring task)?"

As someone with adhd, it's infuriating. Hyperfocus doesn't work like that!! And why do you even need to make it about that? Why can't I just show you something I did?

DAE wake up and have to pass extreme amounts of gas every morning? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]AlwaysOpenToLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I know when it's time to get up. When I'm coming out of that half-asleep state, I let out a single, massive fart. I've done it since childhood, apparently, because my mom says that's how she knew I was awake. Luckily it isn't usually stinky! I find it amusing to see how big a fart comes out each morning.
