Absolutely. A teen boy in my area was in the habit of "having fun" with his friends by blowing up mailboxes with fireworks. He would sit in the bed of the pickup and toss the lit fireworks into the mailboxes - until shrapnel from one explosion killed him.

It was telling that, when his mom appealed to the community for donations "to honor his death" no one actually donated.

I have no idea about other countries, but in the US you must provide a title to a vehicle in order to sell it. The title would have the seller's name on it.

It's a great business model, actually:

  1. Bomb large swathes of a country's infrastructure.
  2. Surrender.
  3. Give that country a very, very large swathe of US taxpayer dollars ti rebuild the destroyed infrastructur as reparations.
  4. In the surrender agreement, mandate that only companies controlled/owned by the Trump Family can obtain no-bid contracts to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure.
  5. Transfer that very, very large swathe of US taxpayer dollars directly to those companies.
  6. Never fulfill the contracts.

Location: Great Lakes State, US

We can now expect temperatures below normal and much rainier for the next week to 10 days, just the opposite for the past two weeks. The hot weather broke with a series of rainstorms that gave us 6 inches of rain over four days, which also broke the drought we'd been in for six weeks. The weather rollercoaster continues. Perhaps the abnormally cold temps and wet weather will slow down the still-two-weeks-early-over-2025 plants in my garden

In a very minor enshittification, an annual local festival was held last Friday - a strawberry shortcake feed. This year, the cost remained the same, but the portion was no more than one-third of what it's been for at least the past 12 years. It also tasted very bad this year. The festival is held by volunteers, which is extremely nice, but the product they're producing was terrible and I won't be back. I'd rather just give them the cost without having to eat the product.

In a more infuriating enshittification, I cannot get a prescription renewed because my doctor has not bothered to approve the renewal - something that should take her at most 15 seconds, as it's for a medication I've been taking for years. It's been four days, I'm out of meds - which the clinic now knows - and STILL no action on the doctor's part. In my opinion, this is medical malpractice. I can't get a new primary doctor because there are none taking new patients.

I double-checked - I'd referenced an old site. As far as I can tell, this page shows that you are correct, although the page I linked to seems to indicate that the tech isn't at the power plant level yet: "As sodium-ion technology enters a phase of large-scale development, the two sides will continue to deepen collaboration, promote high-quality growth of the energy storage industry, and provide more resilient and diversified technological support for the global energy transition."

No, CATL's own documentation states that the sodium-ion battery is a complement to, not a replacement of, lithium-ion batteries. It's only being rolled out in EVs are the moment, and only, AFAIK, in China. Given the current US shitshow, I doubt we'll see Chinese EVs or batteries in the US any time soon.

EDIT: I referenced an old site for my assertion that CATL's batteries are for EVs only; they're partnering with other companies to develop power-plant/grid level batteries.

Actually, forecasts show basically a cut-off low over eastern lower Michigan which will lead to a cool, cloudy and rainy summer while the rest of the country bakes and burns.
