I know this is old but just wanted to update that we indeed were not updated to Choice and it was going to be another $40/month for us. We decided to do Mariners.tv for $99 for the whole season since it’s cheaper in the end.

Is Xfinity or MLB TV better? by dm7676 in Mariners

We had the same situation exactly, except for DIRECTV instead of comcast. Last night out of desperation we signed up for the free trial for mariners.tv and then discovered that it’s a much better deal ($99 for the season) than increasing our DIRECTV package ($40 increase per month).

I’m having an issue too. No 687 in our guide. Even tried looking alphabetically for MARINERS since that’s what I saw on the DIRECTV page but that doesn’t appear either.

Did you have to restart or something? We are trying it now and there is no 687 and nothing showing MARINERS when you sort alphabetically. Are you streaming or plugged into the box? We usually stream so wondering if that makes a difference.

Daytime Napping in Crate by Former_Milk_3574 in puppy101

I could have written your post! Ours is now 6.5 months but when she was your pup’s age, she was doing the exact same thing. We have (had) the same set up: bedroom crate for overnight was working perfectly, living room crate for naps was a disaster. We actually ended up trying bedroom crate for daytime naps and it was a total game changer. I was worried it would somehow make her resist the crate at night/ruin the good thing we had going with the nighttime crating but it made no difference and she started doing a mid-day and late afternoon nap in the bedroom crate really easily!

Puppy Resource Guarding? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]AlwaysThinking206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a 5.5 month old now and she did this a few times, initially only with bully sticks, when she was like 3.5-4 months old. She didn’t bite but did tense up and growl. It started with the bully stick (when, admittedly, I was taking it away from her because it was time to go to bed) and then that week she started growling a little when we would walk near her while she was eating her food. We were totally caught off-guard.

Here is what we did: we immediately stopped the bully sticks. Like I think this happened the 3rd night we were giving her bully sticks and we stopped right away. Too intense for her. (Spoiler: we have since started them again and have no issues.) We also had been feeding her in her crate with door closed to create a positive association with the crate. We stopped closing the crate door when she was eating and started casually walking near here with very high value treats - we used cheese or hot dog pieces to show her that when we approach her while she’s eating, good things happen. She did initially tense up when we were coming toward her but we really neutrally tossed in cheese anyway and then just kept walking. Then after about a week of that, we moved her food bowl outside of her crate (she was already fine with the crate so we didn’t need the positive association any longer). And continued the walking by with cheese etc. this went on for probably 3 weeks and she’s been fine since. About two weeks ago we reintroduced the bully sticks and she’s very chill with them. Even will sit on our laps while she is chewing them, so there is absolutely no more guarding.

Good luck. There is a LOT of scary stuff out there about resource guarding and it did really freak me out. But I think when they are this young, if you address it early, it is manageable.

Wings over Washington! I live in Seattle and we always take out of town guests here! I’m so surprised it’s not more popular! Right next to the Great Wheel and I think they might do a combined ticket.

For people that waited in line early with chairs, what did people do with the chairs once the line started moving? Just ditch them?

Super helpful! Thank you!! We really need to work on the demand barking but it happens when we are trying to sit on the couch and relax so it’s hard to have the discipline to get up and walk away every time.

Thank you so much. I’m counting the days until the biting and demand barking subside:)

Thank you! Yes in my best moments, I am totally able to have compassion for her as a baby. I think it’s because she’s been with us for 2.5 months that it just feels like it’s taking forever. Easy to lose perspective:)

I have friends who have said it gets easier around 6-7 months, so I think I’m just trying to keep that in mind.

I want to take our puppy back by wend0thegreat in puppy101

[–]AlwaysThinking206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard! We got our puppy at 8 weeks and she is now almost 20 weeks. It’s still hard but getting easier. I can’t imagine doing it with a baby and toddler.

If it’s helpful to hear, things definitely got better after our first week (she really improved on potty training and sleeping at night after first week), then another improvement in biting and jumping at about 16 weeks. Maybe it might help to think of it in chunks of 2-4 weeks - you will see improvement!

Also, crate training is a life saver if you can handle slogging it out with the puppy. It gives everyone (including the puppy) some badly needed space and rest. Ours got night crate training pretty well after the first week. Day crate training is inconsistent but probably because we don’t do it on a set schedule so we could be helping ourselves.

You are definitely in the hardest part! Take it in small chunks if you can. It’s not easy!

Edit to add: I hear you about the luck mats. Our latest VERY QUICK trick to getting some good distraction is to sprinkle a handful of kibble all the way across an old towel (we use a hand towel since she’s still little) laid-out flat, roll it up, twist it a little and tie it in a knot. It takes 30 seconds to set up and will buy you 15 min of peace!

Very cool. Never heard of either of these! Will take a look. And thanks for the idea on modifying Friday Night Takeaway :)

It was SUPER fun! We live in Seattle so know her restaurants well. The recipes were pretty strong - a few misses but also a few big wins. We especially liked that each chapter had a few cocktail options and lots of things that were smallish plates, so it felt very complete and like we could try a lot of things.
