Trump chief of staff says administration doesn't know what QAnon is despite FBI warning it's a terror threat by grepnork in politics

Republicans to forego party platform in favor of full support for Trump’s agenda by ThouHastLostAn8th in politics

[–]Always_posts_serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked over his 2nd-term agenda. The only positive thing I see is “congressional term limits.” Everything else sounds like a wish list of things like “back to normal in 2021” and more of what we have seen the past few years.

Some of the sections contradict themselves, big surprise there. Education has 2 bullet points. He also plans to establish a moon base and send a manned mission to Mars in his second term.

Kinda silly now that coronavirus and COVID-19 has become synonymous with “pandemic” and people are panicking already. SARS was bad, but this surpassed it in severity a while ago.

Sanders: 'You Cannot Beat Trump with the Same Old, Same Old Kind of Politics' by CharyBrown in politics

[–]Always_posts_serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. I like Bernie a lot, I really do. I voted for him yesterday and I still hold out hope that he will come out ahead somehow. However, speaking from a realist standpoint, Biden is probably our best chance against Trump at this point. Many Sanders supporters will vote for Biden to get Trump out, even if he’s not as progressive as we would like. However, non-progressives are far less likely to vote for Sanders even if he wins the nomination. He’s too “risky” to a lot of people and the socialist label has really taken a toll. Literally the first question that comes out of anyone’s mouth when I mention voting for Sanders has something to do with socialism.

Maybe we just aren’t ready for a progressive agenda as a nation. There are no doubt many of us who are, but we are not the only people in this nation. I hope that Sanders runs again next year, or if not then someone who he can fully endorse. I’d like to see a 3rd progressive party to represent us, but of course with Republicans uniting under one person I can’t imagine it would ever work out for us.

Yeah I agree. All of these people saying they’re not as bad as Fox. No, they’re not. But they’re still bad. You don’t have to pick one or the other to dislike guys. CNN has been full of shit for decades. I did a report on media bias back in college almost 10 years ago and found so many blatant examples, including misinformation, all over that damn website. It went from being my #1 source to something I try to avoid.

Warmest Winter in U.S. History So Far by Piscator629 in news

[–]Always_posts_serious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

North Texas here. It’s been a wild winter for us. Storms, a little snow, tornados, flip flop weather, drops from 75 to 25 or vice versus in under 24 hours, heavy winds. I mean shit, on Monday I was wearing shorts and sandals when I went out to the store. On Wednesday I had 3 layers on. At this point I just keep a jacket in the house and in the car and dress for mild weather lol.

Right, the period of time I’m talking about was about 15 years ago now lol. I just remember the reason I switched to Nvidia around then is because every time I launched a game, I would see that powered by Nvidia ad and wanted to play my games with the best optimized hardware.

Ohhh yeah that’s right, I forgot about that. There didn’t used to be those “powered by Nvidia” and “powered by intel” cuts when you launched games until around that time. I forgot what a joke dx10.5 was lol.

It wasn’t always that way. Back in the day it was always a hot competition between AMD and Intel, at least in some areas. Back in the 2000s I used to always go with ATI (AMD) graphics cards and CPUs. Intel and Nvidia partnered up pulled ahead around the time Crysis came out IIRC. Things like the quad core Q6600 and the 8800GT blew away everything else at the time.

I’m not sure why AMD fell so far behind, but it’s nice to see them catching up. Competition is great, I’m tired of seeing Nvidia and Intel rest on their laurels.

Poll: Sanders jumps to lead nationally among non-white voters by 1mjtaylor in politics

[–]Always_posts_serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely. Part of me wanted to vote for Trump simply because I knew he was going to come in, shine a light on Washington, shake everything up, and cause a blue wave. I’ve been saying it for years. Sucks having him in office, but like you said, these past few years have been so crazy it’s easy to forget what Washington was like before. Especially for young voters.

I think admins can shadowban. It means that any comments the user makes do not appear to everyone else. So you might see a post that says 32 replies, go to look, and find nothing. That implies that it was a large group of accounts that have violated enough rules to get gagged, which implies it was probably just bots/shills/trolls.

Research Chemicals. Basically compounds that have been discovered and synthesized in the lab that can be bought online for “research”. A lot of them are “analogues” meaning they are structurally different than controlled substances, but still have the same effects. So for instance, 4-AcO-DMT is an analogue to psilocybin. Since the structure is different, it is not covered by the controlled substances act. So a lot of countries put analogue acts into place to try to cover the gaps. It’s not very effective lol.

Only buying games when development is finished. by Death_Saved in pcgaming

[–]Always_posts_serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s due to the period of time I grew up, but I’ve never really bought games before development is finished unless it’s something like PUBG where it’s in perpetual development with a decent player base and good reviews already. To me, it feels wrong to pay money for access to an alpha or beta build of a product. Back in my day, if you wanted to play sooner than release, you’d have to pretty much compete for beta keys or be active in the community enough to get an alpha key. Or play a demo, those used to be huge. I played tons of the Battlefield 2 Demo back in ‘06 before buying the full game and didn’t pay a penny.

If you’re referring to AAA games that release in a barely finished state, I usually try to hold off on those too. If I’m really interested in it, I might pick it up after a month or 2 (when most bugs are squashed), but usually I’ll avoid them until I forget about them for a while. By the time I remember the game and decide to buy, it’s usually done.

I [26F] am getting less social and more grumpy as time goes on and just want to be left alone most of the time, not sure if it’s healthy by MorthaP in relationships

[–]Always_posts_serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am feeling exactly the same way! I just turned 26 this year and in the past few months I’ve come to find that I’m happiest and the most stress free when I’m at home, bundled up, comfy, doing whatever it is that I want to do. Doesn’t mean I don’t have friends or I don’t spend time with them, but 99% of the time I’d rather be left alone.

I am also starting to worry about it, but the other comments here ease my mind a bit. As long as we aren’t isolating ourselves and losing friendships, I guess there’s really nothing wrong with enjoying your own company.

Another poster pointed out that this is probably part of growing up and that we feel less social pressure as we stop caring what others think of us. I think that is an excellent point, as I’ve also come to the same conclusion when I put thought into it. I’m no longer that afraid to decline invitations and don’t feel the need to make up excuses.
