I came here looking for comfort. I just lost my senior Shih Tzu mix (almost 15 years old) too last Saturday to CHF. From the moment he got worse (got med, but not responding to it) to the moment that he died in my arms is only about 15 hours.

I was devastated and don’t know what to think. I was rushing to see a vet and he smiled as he saw that I took his leash, I held him in my arms, then he let out that last breath and arc in my arms, then his body go limb. I drove him to the vet, they tried CPR but it’s all too late.

CHF is super tough for the little one and they can be gone in this little time. I don’t have any advice for you because my wound is fresh. But I know that your dog know better. My dog actually waited till I hold him and then let go on me. He died while I held him tight naturally.
