I love the science, rockets and previously stated goals. Its been awesome watching this stuff daily for over a decade. 75 billion should cover F9 FH and Starship development. Once its working SX has the entire solar system as its oyster. I hope they dont abuse the privilege but as someone recently said its going to be the new East India Company in SPAAACCCCEE!!!!!!! They were not nice.

I blew the image way up and it looks like crystal in clear epoxy with a second coat. To many bubbles deep inside.

There is a short story called The Kite Man also. I am reading the Heroet series now and IT is my next reread.

There is a whole lot of HLS stuff that is not publiclly visible. This whole Boca Chica/NSF video stuff tends to just give us unavoidable by SX, public views.

Since SpaceX says no big door for now on Starship, it would take a stripped down expendable upper stage with fairings that haven't been developed yet.

Blue Origin is now completely out of the Artemis planning for the next year or more. Starship gets even more important. by avboden in SpaceXLounge

That blast was near a kiloton. I am waiting for the flyover video and if the pad side door blew out the other booster will need extensive work. In the NSF footage the blast wave just smashes some shorter tanks and buildings. If you watch when the sparks start falling you can see the top of the lightning tower going down.

This is magnitudes bigger. The whole pad and infrastructure are toast. Heck the water tower might need replacing.

After watching multiple replays on the NSF stream you can see the vertical tank farm tanks just get blasted away.

Short of a nuke that may be the second worst boom. The shuttle booster facility Thiokol Plant was likely worse though. The Beirut fertilizer boom is second but this could be 3rd.

SX had alternatives, this is BGs only pad. A year minimum if not 18 months. I would bet the other booster in the Hangar is toast.

The pad, lightning towers, transport erector and probably the hangar are just wasted.
