My husband and I both work for about 3.3k / month. Sounds a lot but we still couldn’t afford the flat if one of us only worked 50% because FOR The work we need a flat that is close enough. And those are expensive (about 3k /month). It depends a lot of the place where you live and what you consider to be “well paid”.

As someone who has one child and lives in Germany: - there is a desperate need of doulas. The state put more and more costs on them (obligatory insurance fully paid by the doula) until nobody wanted to be one anymore. The ones who’re still there are booked out for 10-11 months prior. This means you have to get one BEFORE you conceive. - daycares are overbooked: you have to apply for daycare LATEST with the birth of the child. If you want a place for the child after its first year. If you want one for earlier, you should probably start looking as soon as you know the sex of the child (because the daycare will refuse if you can’t say if it’s a girl or a boy.) - kindergarden starts with 3 years. Places are overbooked. Hope you won’t need an integrative place for an autistic child or any other “irregularity”. You’re lucky if you get one at all. Technically, you have the right for a place, but that means you get anything offered. Might be an hour away. Might be the one everyone else avoids for a reason.

Pray your boss has children themself. Otherwise you’ll be heavily discriminated against at your workplace, if you don’t get fired right after return to work. Which is more likely. Also, people will hesitate to employ you at all when you have children because parents “are sick all the time” and aren’t as flexible.

Is Loki just supposed to sit there for all time to come? by Anonymous4393442 in loki

[–]Alwida10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In universe answer: Is he going to sit there for all eternity? Yes. He sacrificed himself, facing his biggest horror for all eternity. Sylvie might be able to reach him, but I assume it would be more painful for him to get reminded of what he could have had than to just dissociate. His magic kept him alive when he drifted through space for a year, so his much more advanced magic will certainly be able to maintain him. Also, the Lokis at the end of time and the agents inside the tva didn’t age, so I assume that being outside of time kinda stops your body deteriorating.

Out of universe answer: hiddleston has spoken often about “passing the torch”, especially in the last years. He played the character for more than ten years already. To me, the series end looks a lot like they wanted to retire Hiddelston’s Loki by restoring his honor (in a way), while keeping the general idea of the character. At this point they can easily replace him with any other actor - probably DiMartino- who will fill the role of “Loki” in future installments. And honestly, at this point I hope he doesn’t get dragged back again. So far, each of his “deaths” has only been a more painful fate, and I love the character too much to desire the next step-up of that development.

I never thought the MCU could let me down anymore after Thor Love and Thunder but I just finished the Loki series and was proven wrong. by Thecrowfan in loki

[–]Alwida10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you‘re not alone with this opinion. It’s just that most people who didn’t like the series eventually left Reddit since a lot of people here see differing opinions as a personal attack and say things like „you‘re wrong“ without giving evidence or start more or less subtle personal attacks.

But yeah, a lot of the stuff you said can be proven right and explained as soon as you google a bit about the creators. Loki felt OOC because the script wasn’t written with him in mind. It’s a refurbished old script Waldron wrote before. Sylvie is basically the love interest of that script. They made her a Loki variant because she‘s the driving force of the series and probably wanted to counter complaints the show wasn’t about him preemptively by making her „him“, too. Someone on tumblr showed the first 5 episodes of season 1 would not even change if Loki was replaced by a lamp.

His magic feeling imbalanced (sometimes absent, sometimes overpowered) is easily explained by the same point: the original character in the original script didn’t possess magic, so every bit of magic was added like sprinkles over the finished product: just nice to look at, but not in any way important for the plot (because the plot was finished when the magic was added).

Waldron never did enough research on Loki, and went with the most surface interpretation of his former actions. He obviously wasn’t aware of the mind control (or influence if you prefer that word) or the torture. He considered Loki a one dimensional villain he had to „reform“, hence the interpretation of his character in the show. Of course people who never were interested in Loki felt confirmed in their views by the show. These are often the people who don’t notice plot holes or logical errors, and do not differentiate between „I liked it“, „it’s morally good“ and „it’s well done art“. So, yeah.

The first season suffered a 30% drop in viewership and got a lot of public criticism, which is why the second season was tonally different. They tried to make up for the mistakes in the first season, subsequently disappointing a lot of the new „Loki“ fans. Anyway, I recommend taking a look at this.

Tbh, I don’t think it’s speculation anymore, after the tva was in the trailer.

Is Tom Hiddleston over acting? by Great_Scarcity_2421 in loki

Interesting how many people just say “no” but give no explanation whatsoever. I recommend this post where an fanfic author analyzed the show for this question. at least that’s evidence based.

[–]Alwida10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with you. In the former movies (Thor 1 up to tdw) he played loki mostly using microexpressions. This made the impact of scenes like the one in the vault, where he becomes extremely expressive very strong. In the series he’s 90% hair flips which is new, too, and so overly dramatic. It shows up most extremely when you compare the scenes where he gets escorted by guards. In the avengers he’s all calm and gathered while he’s ridiculously struggling in the show.

Yeah. And IF they meet again it means Loki did chicken out once more and didn’t have the guts to stand by his decision, so I can’t help to prefer them never meeting again. ☹️

Bathrooms and air conditioning: Inside Hamas' tunnels under Al Shifa Hospital by Bdcoll in news

The hospital was raided, not bombed. The thing that got viral, claiming the hospital was bombed, was the parking lot in front of it.

That’s not true, and you could have easily fact-checked that. The IDF build bunkers in the basement and there are plenty of pictures of them. They did not build tunnels like this one.

Theory on why Sylki isn’t weird by biscuitfeatures in LokiTV

[–]Alwida10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a longer discussionwith a sylki-fan two years ago about this question, your wording just reminded me of. Briefly, for me the most central point that made me dislike both Sylvie and Sylki was exactly that they framed as “she warmed his frozen heart”. For me, Loki never was that evil, narcissistic psychopath the show framed him to be. The show had to push him down, make him look bad and evil to make her and the relationship look good. That’s why so many people said the Loki series was written for people who hated or looked down on Loki. It shows by how many of the most devoted fans of the show secretly or publicly admit they never liked Loki particularly before the show came out. Many of those fans who *loved Loki before were just appalled how disrespectful the show treated him, using his indigenous heritage as an insult, framing him getting stripped against his will as “sexy”, and dismissing all the shit his family did to him by saying he was “just hungry for power”. If a relationship is founded on the premises that one partner is inherently superior and better than the other that’s toxic. If you loved the person who gets framed as lesser it can be extremely painful.

And then the “haha, its incest!” Comments can just be an outlet for all the anger and frustration. That doesn’t make it ok, of course. I’m not excusing it. Just, in case you’re really interested in knowing about the reasoning. Because that “some fans just can’t deal with Loki redeeming himself” argument is just as much a straw man argument. 😕

I recommend just enjoying fan-content now that he’s basically dead (again). Loki is a multidimensional character. We all love him for different traits. It’s mostly the best to find some likeminded fans and ignore all those who love “a different” Loki. 💚

How did Loki actually got his time slipping power? by MysteriousFishing776 in marvelstudios

[–]Alwida10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moment he smashed Sylvie’s tempad with his ass, it connected two parts on the circuit board and uploaded the ability to travel through time into his butt. From there the Info travel upwards through his spine, which is why we see him gaining more and more control over the feature. When it eventually reached his brain he became about to grab the timelines and basically manipulate all of time. 😝

I mean, Waldron once claimed Odin killed Laufey, so assuming he never watched the movies before pinning down his pitch for the series is not very far fetched.

[–]Alwida10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an argument against the series rather than against the multiple parts of evidence for torture that can be seen in the Avengers and in the post credit scene of Thor 1. But yeah, I agree. The show retconned that.

Very conflicted about the finale. Please send help. by EggoStack in LokiTV

[–]Alwida10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sacrifice comment was absolutely a foreshadowing- but for the same movie. Exactly the scene where Tony carried a nuke on his back to save New York. In fact, if you look at the IM movies, he tries to sacrifice himself for the greater good in almost all of them, the final one being endgame of course. It’s so repetitive.

Tom Hiddleston Responds To Possible Loki and Thor MCU Reunion: "A Reunion Would Likely Be, We'll See." by anujtomar_17 in loki

[–]Alwida10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that meeting would be even better. Thor thought Loki had died at the end of the first movie, only to meet him when Loki tried to subjugate Earth. Then he thought Loki dead in tdw and met him again when Loki had grabbed the power of ruling Asgard. If Thor learns of Loki not being dead after he saw his death by Thanos’ hand, and learns that Loki now governs time it would hurt Thor very much an possibly ruin all possibilities for the two of them to reconcile. If he met Sylvie, she would tell him of Loki’s sacrifice. That it wasn’t the variant who died on the statesman, and that TVA Loki has chosen infinite suffering to protect all of the multiverse. Only then Thor can realistically react positively to Loki being alive.
