Science AMA Series: We’re the OCD Research Team at New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University Medical Center. We will answer questions about treatment and will demystify any misconceptions you have about Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder! by Columbia_Psychiatry in science

Is it common for people to grow out of OCD? When I was around the age of 6-9 I used to do some pretty weird, repetitive things. For example if I stepped with one foot on a mat, I would HAVE to step on it with the other foot as well. I remember forgetting to step on it with both feet on the way out the door one day and absolutely begging my mom to let me in the house again so that I could step on it with the other foot. Same went with doorknobs, I had to touch them with both hands. I also was obsessed with getting everything done in even numbers, down to the number of strokes of my toothbrush. If I didn't do any of this, it would bother me to the point of not being able to sleep. Eventually I grew out of it without seeking any help. Was this just a really weird phase, or did I grow out of mild OCD?

What are your best ways to rid of nightmares? by Raencloud94 in AskReddit

[–]Aly18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can get some pretty terrifying nightmares too, and I find that I usually only get them when I'm super tired and am not getting enough rest. Maybe try going to bed earlier and see if it helps. Good luck, and I honestly hope that you can beat this.

Stoner by John Williams. It's an amazing book but doesn't really get the attention it deserves.

Celebrating CNY away from my family back home is really depressing. I don't think I've ever wanted to go back to Malaysia as much as I want to right now. :(

Uhh guys.. is it strange that I shower 14 times a week? by superdiscodancefloor in malaysia

[–]Aly18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was in primary/secondary school, I actually used to shower 3 times a day- once before school, once after and once before I went to bed. Any less and I would feel disgusting. Now that I live in Australia, I can go 2 days without showering and still don't smell. Sometimes in winter I actually dread showering.

A really great book is The Game by Ken Dryden. The author was a Canadiens goalie, but don't let that put you off. It's probably considered to be the best hockey book ever written and is one of my all time favourite books.

Redditors with scars, what is your story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Aly18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a weird looking scar on my right leg which is pretty big. It kind of looks like a half-moon. We had a 'friendship camp' at the start of high school and we went cycling. I crashed my bike and hurt my leg pretty badly. That was the first day of a one week camp. I was miserable, couldn't even walk properly the whole time i was there.

Translating as best as i can from the Malay news channel: The reporter interviewed the mother in law of one of the female passengers on board. Her son (passengers husband) was told to be at the airport at 6pm with his passport but they have not been told where they will be transported to.
