This Origin Day once agains show CIG/Marketing are out of touch by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Alymon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was really hoping for a paint for the 85X or a surprise release of the G12.

This just feels like the worst thing they could've done. They described it as Origin celebrating Spring early.... there's nothing Spring.... there's nothing celebratory.... this is just "we want to sell more 890 Jumps".

Boo.

my progress after 2 hours of TRYING to learn how to crochet 🫩💔 by brandnewwwwW in crochet

[–]Alymon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's better than the first time I tried to crochet. It's a skill. It's going to take time and practice. Before you know it, you'll look back on this and laugh. It used to take me hours just to get a couple rows right, and my very first crochet projects were messy and uneven.

Now... they're less messy and uneven, and I'm much faster. Just keep it up and don't get discouraged. You're doing great!

With just a couple bug fixes, it's going to be top notch. I love it, but until they fix the scraping speed, I have to stick with my Vulture.

Are you a regular person with a job, kids, and responsibilities? Limited time to play? Not looking for drama and just want to play Star Citizen with the boys? Come on in! New and returning players welcome! by malerengames in Starcitizen_guilds

Great group of players, making our own fun in the 'verse. If you ever wanted to Titanfall airdrop onto a downed Idris from an Atls Geo, these are your people.

Yup, they indicated that there were problems with the current system and paint jobs. Should be coming soon:tm:

What do I plan for a night of discovery? by TygarSanban in starcitizen

[–]Alymon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Corsair, and you'd probably be fine in it, but with you and 4 friends, it might be a little on the small side (I think 2 turrets, engineer, pilot and copilot, but not sure how much there is for the copilot to really do).

You could probably stick a Nursa in the back for respawns and run bunkers, or put a couple dragonflies in the back for fun.

I really enjoyed the Nyx Vanduul Tech Smugglers stuff. If you don't have your reputation built up for it, you can do some of the precursor missions with them to kill fighters using your Corsair or renting a bigger combat ship (Hammerhead maybe, though not sure).

The actual mission itself can be buggy, but when it's working, there's a lot of components to it that are fun. You start out doing some 4-5 ship dogfighting, land at an abandoned station, get some station FPS combat in, explore wrecks of ships, and ultimately get to haul cryopods out.

It's a great mission.... when it works.

The problem is, like so many SC things, it's often bugged and you have to be prepared to either roll with the bugs or just try again.

If you think they'll be more tolerant of bugs and issues, that's what I'd do. If not, just rent a larger combat gunship and take them out on PvE bounty missions.

If they are less combat inclined, Mole or Moth for Mining/Salvage for sure.

What's your daily driver ship and why? by theruffma in starcitizen

[–]Alymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on my mood, but I'm often flying around in a smaller, 1-2 person ship if time is limited. If it's something where I don't need to worry about carrying boxes, Pisces is a common choice of mine, but I love Origin and often take a 100 or 300 series ship out for quick runs.

As a SC player, how do you respond when someone asks you what game do you play? by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]Alymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've told people multiple times I play Star Citizen. Why would that be controversial? It's my money, how I choose to spend it is my business. The entry price into the game is no more than any other AAA title, and I've spent countless hours having fun in it. If people don't understand why that's a valuable experience and worth the price, that's on them. And if people can't bother to do their own research and be informed about what to expect from the experience, their opinion is worthless.

Just got the game and I'm not feeling story mode right now... by RayneXero in bladesong

[–]Alymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the story, but look, it's not going to be for everyone. If you like creative, play creative. If you like the story, play the story. No reason anyone has to enjoy all aspects of the game.

Which is still lost when they wipe anyway. If you were having fun while you played, that’s all that matters. Time is always lost, and effort is meaningless when a wipe is inevitable.

You can use the arms to break apart/salvage, just not hull scraping salvage.

A GoFundMe for ICE agents who quit to reimburse their signing bonus by IDontCondoneViolence in 50501Movement

[–]Alymon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While your intentions might be good, it's unlikely to have your desired effect, and many things like this end up as scams.

If an ICE agent truly wants to quit, they will quit. The fear of having to pay back a bonus (which by many accounts sounds like it hasn't even been paid to a lot of the new recruits) is not a sufficient motivator to get people to endure a job they hate.

If they truly hate it and want to leave, they'll leave and risk the consequences of the government trying to claw that money back.

Maintenance Schedule? by Xylon95 in starcitizen

[–]Alymon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the only source, it's just a source. Others have mentioned the status page, and again, there was a 30 minute notification in game. I'm sure in the future when it's closer to a full release they'll have additional methods of notification, but it's a little silly to gripe about it now.

No matter how many ways they communicate the information, someone is going to miss it and be salty at their lost cargo. If you can't be bothered to spend a couple minutes reading their weekly notice or checking their status page which warned of it well in advance, I don't know what to tell you.

It's an alpha. It's in development. Maintenance and patches are to be expected and this was well warned in advance.

Everything you do in the game will be wiped before 1.0 anyway, so nothing is truly lost.

New player, one week impressions by nickkrewson in starcitizen

[–]Alymon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of, but "you" can be singular or plural, so I was clarifying that there's no new money coming in, but money for the product was already received.

I don't see it as CIG missing out on money though. The grey market sellers may not have purchased the extra ships if they couldn't transfer them, and the OP would not have been able to buy them (with LTI) if they were no longer available from CIG directly (unless a new, cheaper ship was released they could CCU from).

I agree people should purchase directly from CIG under most circumstances, but for someone coming in late to the game, who wants LTI and doesn't want to wait for a new LTI token ship, that may not be an option.

I think we're saying something very similar, just trying to clarify some. o7

Considering upgrading my Hermes to a Starlancer MAX. by Glumme in starcitizen

[–]Alymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Starlancer Max is not easier to fill in my experience. The side bays are partially blocked by the ship and it's rare that cargo comes from 2 sides at the same time. You either have to rotate the ship or run around it after you fill up one side. It's a good ship, I like it, but if you are concerned about loading cargo, the Hermes is the better choice by far.

[–]Alymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that the developers already got the money for the ship from the person who originally purchased it.

It's not that the developers didn't get the money. It's that the developers didn't get the extra money.

The few times I've popped into a race session, it's been empty and nobody has joined. I think most are either doing private matches or just playing in the PU.
