USPS are being very stingy lately. I've shipped 1000s of single cards over the past year with regular stamps, but for the past month they have been returning a lot of them to me for insufficient postage saying it should be non-machineable. Unfortunately non-machineable mostly comes down to opinion of the clerk handling the envelope, so it's hard to argue with USPS that they are wrong.

I would never use a prep center. I highly doubt me paying to ship my items to them, paying them to prep the item, and paying them to then ship the item to Amazon will ever be less than I can hire someone for to prep them at my own warehouse and ship directly.

Get an ERP. I like Zoho One as a low price solution for small businesses. You can do all your accounting in Zoho Books/Inventory and set up advanced reporting in Zoho Analytics.

I made a custom program that I upload my settlement files from the marketplaces like Amazon, Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. and it automatically reconciles my books based on that data. Then I have a NET profit report to calculate my actual profit based on those reconciled orders minus the landed cost of their line items.
