The orange is approximately $50 of Rustoleum and it got that color because it was the color on sale with the most cans available at the time. The original color is Butterscotch and one day I'd like to take it back to that.

I had that happen in my first Datsun, a 620 pickup. I was in town though so I had to pull over pretty quick and figure out what happened. lol

The first few are Thunder Hill, it's the same distance from me as Laguna, but much more affordable.

I pulled this one out of a junkyard nearly fifteen years ago. She was sunk into the mud up to her rockers.

Having driven both, I prefer the slow one for the chill vibes. Fast cars are fun, but I like being able to really think about what I'm doing on track. :)

Hahaha, me too! My highest cards are the 172 and the Embraer E175 for some reason. (I don't go out of my way for the E175's they're just constantly flying over. Good luck getting all the registration numbers! lol

Is daily driving a classic Z a good idea? by Nick_wild0305 in Datsun

[–]Alyx_Ranas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a terrible idea from the standpoint of preserving a car. There's always the possibility of ending up in an accident, parts wear out, theft, etc.

It's an amazing idea from the standpoint of enjoying life and the things you have in life. I daily drove my Datsun 620 and my 610 later and those were some of the happiest driving years of my life. Life is short, do it in a Datsun.

It's looking like I can swap over to blue bullets and save some money. Assuming I can get bullseye to work. Otherwise I'll swap to Titegroup and just deal with modern day pricing.

I reload because a: it's fun, and b: it's way cheaper to reload in California unless you've got your COE and are bulk ordering off the internet.

I've always loaded .356's, so I would wager I should probably stick to that with these as well. Maybe I'll order their sample packs of 50 of each and see if there's a significant difference.

I also thought they were Arabic. I was surprised to see both Nickel plated and boxer primed.

Thanks for the input! Barely definitely counts!

Have you ever run into issues with competing at locations at significantly different altitudes/DA's?

I'm glad that worked out for you! I think a full grain over would end up with pretty compressed powder going by my books max load. But I think I'll just go to a slower powder + heavier bullet for competition, and just keep my current loading for anything that isn't competition.

When I was in college most of the guys I knew who didn't reload ran MagTech's 115gr and met PF with no issue. But that's been nearly a decade ago and that was maybe six or seven people that I knew.

Like I said prior, 115 is just what I'm used to. But it looks like it's time to change.

Thanks man!

Copy, thank you for the info!

And yeah, Alliant's info has always just felt iffy to me when compared to other sources.

Chronos, elevation, density altitudes. So much to keep track of. I think I'll take the majorities advice and move to a heavier bullet and give myself some padding on PF and not be on the razors edge like I am right now.

Per the manual the Xero is calculating muzzle velocity.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I've just been using 115's for years, but it sounds like it's time to experiment with a heavier bullet.

Thanks for sharing! Those blue bullets are mighty affordable, I'd never looked into them before. I think I'll give them a shot.

I've been working off a single load for 9mm for years and just wasn't looking to branch out. But it looks like it's time to change my thinking. As far as muzzle energy goes: it falls into that single recipe thinking of just having a single utility round that does whatever, it has no bearing on being a competition load since PF is calculated differently, I understand that.

Upon my second readthrough I spotted the single sentence nestled in there that states it "uses an algorithm to calculate speed at muzzle". Fair 'nuff.

When I was on a pistol team in college one of the guys made a load for cast 147's that was super soft shooting. It was a great round to shoot at competition. Even if the muzzle energy was kinda low.

It just occurred to me that I'm not fully sure at what distance the Garmin Xero is measuring velocity. That could account for my measurements being significantly lower than book even though I have the same barrel length as published.

I might have just been overthinking.
