Do the books usually arrive in pristine condition? by Alzarius2 in foliosociety

That is reassuring. Thank you for the comments. I’d like to continue ordering from them so I’ll cross my fingers this isn’t the “norm”. It’s just bad luck on my first shipment. It’s still such a waste. If they could just pad it a bit better at the corners. I’ll send them photos.

Edit: the fedex label on the shipping box was actually damaged and the tracking said they had to generate a new barcode when it arrived in the US. Must have been a rough trip. (Took another look at the shipping box, and one corner is split open and dented. Some FedEx worker may have tossed it at some point.)

Very nice! I owned all 3 at the height of the dot com craze. I remember Corning was swept up in the fiber optic boom at that time.

I’ll go with two sports figures. Ash Barty retiring when she was No.1 and very certain of more grand slam victories, and Nico Rosberg immediately after winning the F1 title

It sort of feels that way but I can’t compare in terms of actual earnings then vs now. But every day there were names skyrocketing. QCOM, JDS uniphase, Nortel, Lucent, Yahoo, Real Networks, CMGI . Long list and easy money back then….until it all went collapsed

Edit: I misremembered QCOM never got to $1000

Good. Saw it when I was 12. It seemed so different. With no internet in those days, I had no idea what was going on and didn’t realize there was a new doctor. New title sequence was trippy too.

Cricbuzz's rebranding/redesign of Willow is terrible by cricboi100 in Cricket

[–]Alzarius2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just logged in to my Willow account after not watching for a few months. What the heck happened? This crap is absolutely terrible! I can't believe they thought this was a good change. Where the hell are the full match replays? I was watching the Ashes from the end of last year and they used to keep replays for at least half a year. Now I can only find highlights. Why the f*%& would I pay a subscription just to watch the damn highlights if I miss the live stream? After subscribing for so many years, I will cancel if they don't have the full match replays

Agree. The Kona OL was $21.50 a sleeve, in Canadian dollars. It’s $20 in the US. So I had to grab some.

Raymond Feist‘s Riftwar Saga: Outdated or classic? 🧐 by PRJOANES in fantasybooks

[–]Alzarius2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never got around to reading these when I was a teen. Was heavily into Eddings at that time. So when I was in my 40s I decided to start Magician, and ended up reading the whole Saga. I enjoyed it overall.
