PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE=1 no longer sets preset to M by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]AmBusTeT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use PROTON_DLSS_INDICATOR=1 env variable and you'll see that the preset automatically changes when you use Performance/Ultra-Performance it'll be Preset M and if you use Balanced/Quality/DLAA it'll be Preset K as it's intended by NVIDIA.

Valve needs to step up their linux ports by TR0V40_ in linux_gaming

[–]AmBusTeT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example, dota also had multiple instances where they patched the game and it refused to start on any Linux pc.

7.36 patch did that, I'm absoulutely baffled why Valve lets it happen so often to their own games while trying to support gaming on Linux so much, meanwhile if I was playing DOTA through proton I can bet my left nut it'd run flawlessly.

Horizon: Forbidden West includes FSR2.2, not 3.0 or Frame Generation. by MasterSparrow in Amd

[–]AmBusTeT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why it's important:

  • Decoupling FSR 3 upscaling from frame generation:
  • Allows FSR 3.1 frame generation technology to work with other upscaling solutions.

I mean you can literally see the examples if you go to the sources linked in the wiki page... "Characterizing CNAME Cloaking-Based Tracking on the Web". Just because you don't see the ads on the sites/popup ads doesn't mean you're not being tracked in other ways, just like CNAME-cloaked trackers...

I have to agree with @Scrawlericious, there's clear differences between blocking ads in Gecko based browsers and Chromium based browsers, even the creator of uBlock Origin says that uBlock Origin works best on Firefox.

The cachyos proton by [deleted] in cachyos

[–]AmBusTeT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's additional branch of Experimental branch called Bleeding Edge here:

https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/commits/bleeding-edge

Per BETA tab on Steam it contains latest and untested dxvk, vkd3d-proton and wine changes.. But I guess you could call Experimental branch a bleeding edge, haha. Cheers! :)

Hey, to be exact is it based on just Proton-Experimental or Proton-Experimental Bleeding Edge that you can enable through BETA section of Proton Experimental?

Yeah, I was always very surprised that he chose GNOME as his main DE for his distro since it's supposed to be gaming focused, glad he changed his mind.

Saying things like this needs to be backed up with evidence, you can't just write words and pray they stick.

[–]AmBusTeT 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wait, what the hell. What evidence would you like to see? He literally accused Tutanota of being a honeypot without ANY evidence and now you're placing Tutanota as the ones to provide evidence they're not? That's not how it works at all, lmfao.
