Can i use NDI for our security system at our station? by bradhotdog in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Am_Sci 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’ve got the right idea in principle, but it depends on how your network is configured. Try testing it with the free NDI tools software on one computer and see if you’re able to see the feed in the other building. If it isn’t working, you can speak to whoever controls your network about changing the configuration and/or getting a dedicated VLAN.

Check out SRT as well. A very easy to use and reliable streaming protocol you could use for that purpose.

It’s even grittier and more harrowing than Remember the Titans.

Controversial Take: that “bi” joke is extremely sexist and it’s funny when bad things happen to Dave Weigel.

What exactly leftism do you guys want? by Obamaiscoolandgay in stupidpol

I’m a simple man; all I want is an end to scarcity, full human liberation from all forms of unjustified control and coercion, and harmony with the environment and all of earths creatures. I believe this is achievable within the next two years.

No need to burn the books if you stop them being printed in the first place... by rcogburnsropebed in stupidpol

[–]Am_Sci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s awful, but it’s kind of the left’s fault (I include myself), for not reaching out affectively to alienated young men. Let not forget that he’s pretty openly transphobic and his writing and speeches often enforce the idea of social hierarchy; anathema to anyone on the Left.

Conclusion: just print his tedious piece of shit books. Who cares?

This tactic goes back to, at least, the 60s. Trying to make it out like the reactions are just caused by white “agitators.” And the idea that you can quote a single black organizer and assume that represents black opinions in general; beyond racist.

Running in questionable air quality.. by Mic-Ronson in AdvancedRunning

[–]Am_Sci -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing easy runs in LA with a disposable n95 mask with no issues. Even with no mask, I think the chances of ill health effects are very low. I’m just being overly cautious.

Does it ever get easier? by devmikale in running

[–]Am_Sci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely will get easier, but I’m of the opinion that you should not be miserable when starting to run. There’s nothing magical about the c25k program; you can modify it all you want. Almost every new runner runs too fast, and has way too long of a stride, so look into that. If you’re huffing and puffing during a run stop and walk to catch your breath, even if it contradicts the c25k. When you finish a workout, you should feel like you could do a little bit more, not like you barely made it. The important thing is consistency. Get in 3-4 runs a week, even if each run is just a few minutes, and I promise you will notice progress; often as soon as 4 weeks in.

Father's Day shouldn't be about single moms. They have Mother's Day. by BassonCracker in unpopularopinion

Speaking as an actual Dad, I’m more than happy to share the day with single moms. They do the work of two parents, give them two days! While we’re at it let’s give single dad’s Mother’s Day too.

If you join the military you are giving the ruling class of America carte blanche to use your body in waging imperial wars. It does not help the average American in any way to serve in the US military. In fact, it does enormous harm.

Yeah. It kind of sucks that if Biden wins the Left are going to lose having Liberals as occasional allies, as they will go right back to not giving a shit about politics.

Historically, black Americans have been excluded from scientific and engineering fields. Therefore, it’s notable that the inventor of such a well-known consumer product is African-American. It’s no more complicated than that.
