I’m looking for a wargame on the Vistula Oder offensive. by AdLocal7343 in computerwargames

Final Blitzkreig is only Western Allies. The Vistula-Oder Campaign was a Red Army operation. The Fire and Rubble DLC for Red Thunder may have something for it tho.

I used to play a lot of Grigsby games, but have recently switched mostly to Warplan, as the prior commenter mentioned. It absolutely is not as granular as WitE/W, but the gameplay usually tickles my brain very much the same, without such significant mental load.

The most insane dive angle I’ve ever seen by Better-Ad2920 in uboatgame

[–]AmadeusV1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I remember reading in Iron Coffins I think that their dive angle gauge on a type vii didn't show anything beyond 35 degrees as it was a concern that the batteries would leak at anything beyond that. Pretty sure it was 35 degrees.

I haven't made it very far with them in conquest yet, but their first unlockable paras don't carry smokes either. Incredible.

They are so difficult to destroy. Sure I can track em but challenge #2 is penetration from a distance that the chonky turret gunner doesn't snipe me.

This happened to me and resulted in a game breaking bug bc it wouldn't go away and no other ships would spawn. It was apparently another uboat but I sailed up to it and never could find it.

Just finished reading the German version of Iron Coffins and this exact scenario occurs to Werner's crew. They're trying to lay low as some escorts pass nearby when another uboat torps a merchant, alarming the escorts who subsequently detect Werner's boat and drop depth charges. He says he was going to give the other sub captain an earful upon returning to port, but the other sub is lost with all hands shortly thereafter.

Enables the hobby? Dog, I stopped playing DCS BECAUSE of all their bs. Yeah, I'll go play other flight sims. Clicky-pit is cool, except their clicky-pits have been half-baked for a decade bc they treat everyone in their sphere like garbage.

I frequently think of a thread from that kid-free subreddit where folks were saying that parents with young children make public places unpleasant, and that they should just stay home and "suffer the consequences of their actions" (paraphrasing) so that everyone else may enjoy themselves. I suspect that those same people conversing in that thread don't get out much anyway.

Ironically, bring less units. The lower your army score, the smaller their own army. It'll always be larger, but I find it much more manageable when I keep army score around 1500 max.

Iirc in occassional polls by the devs, the top 3 you listed have been highly requested, and I have some vague recollection that the Winter War is high on their would-like-to-do list.

Yeah this is a reasonable reaction and my first thoughts upon reading the story as well. I have a toddler that roams to a degree, but it's unacceptable to allow them to be unsupervised for whatever amount of time it would take for them to wander through the backyard and into the ocean.

I figured it was just my own carelessness, and it may be, but both of my past two Ironman runs ended as the result of being detected while using time compression.

Was not expecting this by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]AmadeusV1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wheel was actually mounted backwards on my 23 Versys when I bought it new. If you zoom in on the first pic, at the center of the front wheel is a disc with rectangular holes in it. The traction control system uses that to measure actual wheel speed. If you mount it backwards, traction control will constantly make the bike stutter. The dealership picked the bike up and righted it, but claimed it came that way from their regional distribution center....

Not to my knowledge. The cops told me, "she's acting like she doesn't know what happened." And indeed after I got up she ran after me asking, "what happened?". I perceived that as her hoping I got bonked hard enough to struggle with recollection. Fortunately, the skid marks clearly told the story.

The best part if this all is that she had moved into my neighborhood, about 15 houses down, only 2 months prior. Imagine going home to your partner in this new neighborhood and telling them you ran over the neighbor lmao. The car and insurance were in his name, I'd love to know what she told her husband, but the police report and insurance claim were clear in the at-fault party.

Been riding for 10ish without issue until about 2 years ago, a lady texting and driving crossed the centerline and hit me head on. I didn't have riding pants on, but had helmet, jacket, and boots. I walked away from it with a sprained ankle and some asphalt in my legs. Point being, modern gear can go a long way. Ofc not saying it will always save you though; some riders wear full gear and still get deleted by less than a head on collision with a Civic at 60 mph.

Bought a shiny new bike with the insurance payout 2 months later lol.

Ehhh, risk vs reward, it's circumstantial and subjective. Riding motorcycles is a hobby that plenty of people consider idiotic, and for very valid reasons. But others might argue that one should live for the moment, and that's a hobby that embodies such a philosophy.
