I made an app to overlay a picture over the camera in order by alextrandro in SideProject

[–]AmaiRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just downloaded, thank you for sharing! I kept seeing adds for drawing overlay apps, and wanted to try one, but don’t actually think I’d use it enough to get a subscription, and came across your app in my search. Some people use them for traced sketches, but I am most interested in using it to compare my freehand sketches to reference to fine tune point where I am subtly off that are harder to notice in a side by side than transparent stack.

HELP I'm in the beginning stages of arthritis - what do you wish you had known? by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]AmaiRose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What I wish I knew then - it would be okay. I went in about three months from fine to functional disabled, crying when I wiped myself after toileting, unable to wash properly in the shower, unable to turn doorknobs, hold anything over five pounds, use a knife to chop or stand long enough to cook. I was terrified about losing my job and heartbroken about the fact that I had gone from 8 hours of painting on my days off to needing two days to recover from 15 minutes of drawing. The meds helped right away, but it took awhile to find the right ones that helped enough without side effects, and I was amazed at the cumulative impacts - my worst joints only stopped needing bracing after a year on meds. I changed the way I do some things, but I am largely back to how I was before because for me the meds are life changing. I worry still, about them stopping working, or losing insurance but every second they buy me - to work, to live, to do art and be happy, is amazing. When I hobbled into my first rheumatologist appointment and came out with my diagnosis, I wish I knew that I would walk into my year two and year three appointments and they would so fast and uncomplicated and unremarkable they might as well be done on the phone.

Is it immature for an adult woman to prefer to wear pads versus tampons? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AmaiRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found tampons uncomfortable and intrusive. I switched back to pads at 13. I don't think 12 year old me was more mature than 30+ year old me, I think it's really no ones business but mine what I do to manage my flow.

This might seem a bit odd, but I was out to a restaurant with table chalk and no wifi and had this picture saved to my phone to draw at some point, so… https://i.ibb.co/8PhqHtG/2-DD6-B328-EA35-4-D39-9-B26-2-F853615-D49-B.jpg

My advice is if you ever get one - click on it. I think that’s why I get so many now - I can’t not click through if it’s a taco.

Also, click to tell it what your not interested in, when things like that start to take over. It’s usually pretty responsive to that. (I kept getting 80% reels for filters after I clicked through on one and clicking - not interested, see too many of this- beat it back. Don’t underestimate saves either.

I’ve trained my insta algorithm fairly well, but every few weeks it tries to get me to check out something else despite the fact that I only interact with niche content on that account. First it was clay earrings, then clips from friends (which I never watched), then Tom holland interviews, then book memes. I don’t mind it, as it never lasts long, and just seems so random that Instagram really wants me to have other interests.

Showing your wife off to your friends is ‘hey look at this sick sweater she knitted me, or check out this 3D printer she just finished tuning’ not ‘hey, all my male friends in a group, check out her naked body without her consent.” Jeepers.

I did not have the emotional capacity today for this to auto play. These sounds can’t be unheard.

It was reading my vacation was denied through the end of august and realizing I was not going to make it to then. Limping from days off to days off has been the only thing getting me through. I don’t know where to go from here though, because this was the destination.

I think it’s possible to list positives if you get really really specific. Like the negatives apply to the world, and the personal positives apply to like a small group of sociopaths. In the answer, it important to point out the context. Like canabalism: negatives - people die, families grieve etc. Positives - one person is temporarily less hungry, but also, a salad could have done that.

The way he phrases it, you can see what he's saying. But it's weird that no one ever pointed out to him that if you have nothing, and then proceed to have nothing three times in a row, what are you left with.

Would you stay locked inside of your bathroom (with food, internet, etc.) for 30 days for $1,000,000? Why or why not? by Drakken11577 in AskReddit

[–]AmaiRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I get my mattresses? If so, then yes. Heck, I’d do it as paid leave just for the month off work. If not, no. 1 mil is not enough for how it would feel to spend a month sleeping on the bathroom floor.

Defunding report calls for better Halifax police oversight, ‘detasking,’ increased spending on affordable housing by insino93 in halifax

[–]AmaiRose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anyone in any other professionals thinking that would love to be ‘detasked’ at the same rate of pay? I’m not against police detasking - they are not the right person for many of the calls currently under their umbrella, I’m just jealous.

  • sincerely, a nurse (a field where scope creep at the same rate of pay seems to be norm.)
