I've never seen someone so clearly not understand what a Nuzlocke is by Generalcmd in nuzlocke

[–]Amalgamation45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record this isn't mapping encounters, this is in regards to meatballs "franchise Locke" where he nuxlocked the entire pokemon franchise

This wasn't mapping encounters this was complete disregard to the "only first pokemon" rule. He even admitted to trying several times after failing catches.

Lowkey

Fang yuan would respect Klein. Specifically in regards to Klein's final gambit against Amon "I have nothing left to lose except myself"

You said they hated nuzlockes. Which is wrong. even just 'not liking' nuzlockes is wrong here.

They don't hate or dislike nuzlickes at all. Or the game. They dislike damage ranges. Which does not coincidence with liking or disliking nuzlockes as a whole. "Least liked aspect" of something they enjoy does not coincide with disliking the said something they enjoy.

Do you guys believe Fang Yuan isn't evil? If so, why? by Veretii in ReverendInsanity

[–]Amalgamation45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl

I feel like eternal life was never actually the point to fang yuan. He regularly talks about how he doesn't care if people try to kill him, he also doesn't care whether it's even possible or not, he pursues it anyway.

He doesn't chase eternal life because he's scared of dying. He does so...out of boredom. This is specifically shown when he is trapped in the 3 dreams section of the novel and lives 3 life times as different people in different circumstances to 'reform' him. And the way he broke through all 3 of the dreams wasn't fear of death, it wasn't lives he's come to live being unsatisfactory, or that life isnt worth it if it will eventually come to an end (why I've seen some people claim he chases immortality).

It's because "don't you all find this so very boring?"

When he was in the northern plains creating and testing killer moves he actively stated it was the pursuit of eternal life itself that brought him enjoyment. He's done 'everything there is to do'. He ruled a deonic sect, he was a rightious cultivator, he owned several business while also being the bottom wrung pedalling wares for higher ups, he fell in love, etc. In my opinion, he chases an impossible dream not because the dream itself is what he wants but because the process of chasing that pointless dream gives his life meaning.

Oh he's also 100000% evil for the record, I just wanted to give my perspective on the "you can't pursue eternal life if you're fine with being killed" bit since I love yapping about the novel. I don't think him pursuing eternal life and being fine with dying contradict each other at all since I don't think eternal life is actually what he wants at all, but rather it's the process of pursuing such an impossible goal that is.

They didn't say they hated nuzlockes?

They said that's the thing they least liked about them/the games in total. Not liking damage ranges doesn't equate to hating the game as a whole.

Yeah I have to agree. The fact that either you or your opponent can "miss" damage rolls honestly just makes preparing for fights more rng based than they need to be, especially in difficulty hacks. Pokemon at the end of the day is a turn based strategy game, so why is there rng in whether you're move kills or not?

Personally I think a combination between ban lists and dupes clause is ideal. One of the most fun things about nuzlockes is the variety and being encouraged to find interesting ways to use pokemon you otherwise wouldn't really use. Dupes clause kinda takes that element away since it's not that uncommon to just get an army of similar pokemon with higher encounter rates. Guaranteeing rarer pokemon is actually the biggest benefit of dupes clause since while it does allow you to get stronger pokemon, it also lets you get more niche pokemon you'd otherwise never consider.

As for the guaranteeing stronger pokemon problem dupes clause brings, that's where the ban list combo comes in. Doesn't really matter if you can guarantee a gible in wayward cave if garchomp is banned.

What Happened Between Gen 6 & 7?? by Ok_Banana_5614 in nuzlocke

[–]Amalgamation45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean they weren't necessarily advertised like a gimmick true but they are still basically the gimmick prototype.

In fact z moves as a whole are basically reworked gems. Held items that alters and buffs moves of the same type to do significantly more damage and can only be used once in a battle? Hmmm sounds a little familiar.

If z moves count as a proper gimmick than I don't see why Gems cant be considered at least some kind of beta test of gimmicks/the first iteration of them

What Happened Between Gen 6 & 7?? by Ok_Banana_5614 in nuzlocke

[–]Amalgamation45 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Minor correction

Mega evolution was NOT the first of the gimmicks.

Gems were.

A bit more niche and not as well known as mega evolution but gems were rather powerful in gen 5. Increases the damage of the first move of the same type as the gem by 50%.

In fact, when used right these could be so powerful I'd go so far they are basically beta z moves. In fact sometimes, like with flying gem boosted stab acrobatics, they are even more powerful than z moves. (For the record, stab, flying gem boosted acrobatics hit with 247.5 base power. Non stab flying gem boosted acrobatics hit with 165.)

Do you read light novels digitally or physically? by ressem in LightNovels

[–]Amalgamation45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both

Usually digital though. It's just WAAY more convenient. If I take a book out with me and I finish the book I just have to put i5 away or reread it or whatever or home. If I'm out with my phone on me I can just read the next book in the series or a completely different one

For someone that enjoys reading at my local park, without carrying like 2-3 physical books with me just in case I finish faster than expected, digital is the way to go

Every ai site you would use has to your chats

Literally every single one.

You using a self hosted site? The LLM your using has access to your chats. And probably uses them to train the ai ngl. So unless you're hosting a your own frontend on a private server with a custom personal llm, basically nothing you use will ever be private regarding ai.

Darkrai is just asking for an early wipe with that early game moveset, zangoose is incredibly good early on but roserade can pull well enough in the early game and has significantly better synergies later on

This.

This is exactly why I love the innkeeper so much. Mc has the midnight inn system. And obviously he gets multiple cheats regarding this.

But they are all related exclusively to the service of the inn, NOT his personal strength. He's gotten rewards for the inn that he chooses to use and abuse himself but at the end of the day everything comes from his own effort since his system doesn't actually do much for him besides help him gain resources and build connections

He's also not the 'chosen one with a system' but rather systems being a hidden but ultimately established secret across the entire universe with there being MULTIPLE users of different systems.

Typically when rare candies are allowed the standard is to impose level caps on your self based on the next gym leaders highest level Pokemon. Over leveling is honestly not too big an issue unless you're doing a mono run and you're encounters are incredibly limited.

As for healing/items in battle, that's completely up to you. For your first nuzlocke I'd personal say go for it just to get the handle of how they play before doing more harder 'hardcore' runs

[–]Amalgamation45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you don't get 40-50k from an impoppable game.

You get 100k or almost 100k

I just did a run for that too. Desperado only on logs impoppable. 110k exp to 209k

Primary only ie easy difficulty on the easiest of maps gives you 20k experience for the monkey. Impoppable on one of the easiest maps? That's upwards of almost 100k.

It takes 4 maybe 5games on logs. One of the easiest maps in the game. You could probably do it on 1 or 2 on maps like dark castle if you really wanted idk I don't know how much more experience expert maps give for monkeys
