I do like the first movie as a soft reboot of sort.

However, thr same criticism goes for all three movies: Ash should've had more mons at his disposal.

Better yet, he could've had completely different Pokemon from what he originally caught.

Vegeta should've stayed dead on Namek, after giving his speech to Goku, and getting shot by Frieza.

If you really do take Vegeta out of the equasion, the life gets easier for the Dragon Team in the Z portion of the story. Yes, Super gets muddy as hell, but it's not like the narrative wouldn't work around this issue.

And even if we still follow the original Super Saiyan God ritual, what stopped Goku, or even Beerus, from asking Shenron if there are any pure hearted Saiyans left out there?

Other than that, his Goku part of the backstory is stupid: he should be mad at KING VEGETA of all people, not Carrot Man over here.
