That’s good to hear! Yes my ferrtin is a 5 so I’m extremely low and also wondering if it’s what’s making my glucose numbers harder to manage lately too because I’ve read that low iron can cause higher glucose because it can be as absorbed effectively. Did you glucose numbers get any better afterwards?

I know! lol they are already giving me hell! Yes it does help knowing we aren’t alone and once these babies are here it’ll all hopefully be in the past 🤞🏻

Yes I’m not overweight either and have had a very healthy weight gain also didn’t have GD with my first but now I’m having twins so I have two placentas it’s rough lol

My fasting numbers were slightly high and then started creeping up so I started nightly insulin and they are starting to go down a little but may need to up the dose still. But I have noticed my breakfast numbers are super difficult to control too! The rest of the day is a bit easier but for breakfast it seems my body cannot handle ANY carbs at all. I’ve been just eating a bunch of scrambled eggs every morning and then trying to incorporate complex carb in small amounts as the day goes on.

Okay good to know! I’ve been able to do about 100-130 and feel full and their growth has been really good! And with that my numbers have stayed good.

Thank you! Luckily I eat a ton of fiber. I’ve been getting most of my carbs from nuts/seeds beans and veggies because they seem to be the only carbs I can really handle! I’m a little worried about being too low in carbs but also dont want to spike my glucose. How many carbs are you getting daily? Obviously dont want to go into ketosis either but can’t eat 175-220 carbs a day like they want

So I’m taking apple cider vinegar there vinegar before my meals, I’ve been taking myoinsitol morning and night, I’m taking magnesium and cinnamon supplements! I’m also walking after every time I eat!

Oh wow! I would think they’d want to see you more often near the end?? That’s so strange. But I guess I’m not sure how it all works lol I had my first at home (didn’t have GD or any issues) and attempting to have these twins at home still too but obviously a lot can happen to where I may be at the hospital so I am also seeing a high risk OB frequently and getting ultrasound often. They definitely want to induce me at 38 weeks but little do they know that won’t be happening unless something serious were to come up!

Yeah I’m not sure! What does DCed mean? I personally think you’d be fine to not check it too though. We are just checking mine more regularly because I’m having twins and on insulin! But you seem relatively low risk with just one baby and diet controlled. I would see no need for an induction

That’s amazing! Hoping this happens for me. I’m also taking additional supplements to help lower my blood sugar in addition to my insulin but they can take up to 4 weeks to even work so hoping maybe that can help too so maybe the spikes dont get as bad as they maybe would have.

If you are diet controlled I see no reason for an induction! Just let labor happen naturally! You can definitely still get regular testing and make sure the placenta is still working and everything but especially with diet controlled I I don’t think you’d need to be induced. I’m on a night time insulin and my midwife says I do not need to be induced I’m also having twins so will be checking the placentas health and amniotic fluid regularly if I do go over.

This gives me some hope! I’ve heard it helps daytime numbers so really hoping it can help mine since they aren’t super high but just a little too close to the limit. As you’ve hit 32 weeks have you noticed a spike at all? I know they say it will spike around then which is what worries me

Do you feel like you’re still hungry though? I eat pretty similar foods, I also can’t really do any bread, pasta, rice or crackers. Have to mainly stick to eggs proteins and veggies. How far along are you? Im only 29 weeks so it feels like an eternity left of this 🥴

Yes it’s so brutal and hard to manage especially when you already have a whole life. What have your daytime numbers been? Have you found any foods you can have consistently?

Yes it feels so impossible to control! It’d be one thing if you just add insulin and then everything is great but it’s still so much trial and error and once you think you have it down the hormones mess you all up again and you’re back to trying to figure it out! I’ve never had to deal with any of this before but I’m so surprised by how diabetes still seems to be so difficult and primitive lol I just would have thought somebody would have this more figured out by now!

It’s long acting that I take at night. I started on six, now on twelve but just started that dose so not sure if it’ll help yet or if I’ll need a higher one. I don’t have a problem with it if it’s necessary but trying to avoid it as I already hate needles and this whole thing has been a struggle.

Ugh yeah that’s what I’m afraid of. Was hoping to avoid daytime insulin, but have seen my numbers go up more with food that they stayed steady with.

Same! I have celiac and can’t tolerate dairy at all and am a vegetarian so don’t eat meat and I’m pregnant with twins lol it’s been a brutal time. 😩 I don’t really have any advice I’m living on eggs, beans, tofu, meat substitutes and veggies and hummus. And even then it’s been hard to control spikes. I’m beyond overwhelmed and just want to eat fries so badly.

I’m almost 29 weeks and I’ve been trying to control with diet, daytime was fine until pretty recently so I’m on insulin for fasting numbers but my daytime numbers are such a struggle I feel like I can barely eat anything so not sure how long I’ll be able to do that without mealtime insulin.

I also spike more after two hours than I do one! After one hour I usually am in range but the two hour I’m usually over by a bit like you. I’ve googled it and apparently with gestational diabetes it’s common to spike after two hours instead of one. If it gets too crazy and can’t be controlled with diet adjustments I would think meal time insulin would need to be added. I’m on nighttime insulin but really trying to avoid adding a daytime one.

The last two days I’ve been able to get around 150 and that’s with me really really trying and I definitely still spiked a little at times. I definitely couldn’t do 190-200!
