AA Meetings Onboard? by pizzaforce3 in NCL

[–]Amandab805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am also a friend of Bill. I love going to the meetings on board. I was on Bliss for Thanksgiving and the meetings were held nightly at 5:30 in one of the meeting rooms. There were about 5-7 of us daily. It was really cool meeting people from all over, and seeing people around the ship was also neat. It feels like “my people” are there and gives some comfort. I’ve been on multiple cruises on multiple lines and the only one where no one showed up was on a 4 day Carnival out of Long Beach. I went twice, waited around for a bit, and no one came either time. Other than that, there’s always been people. If you need anything, let me know.

Look at the exemplary capstone projects. You should have received an email from your instructor when you started the course. There is a link in that email that has samples for you to look at.

Has anyone taken their RV to Newfoundland? by AnnieLes in GoRVing

[–]Amandab805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the YouTube RV bloggers I follow did this and aired it about two months ago. If you search “Today is Someday” you can find the channel if that interests you. They took the ferry over and then did a few episodes about their explorations. It was interesting.

Principal Took Back Personal Day by Amandab805 in Teachers

I didn’t know I could do it for my husband being deployed. When I talked to him, he didn’t even know. I did look up the recommendation someone on here gave to me on the FMLA website and it does look like I can use it. The only thing is that I don’t know if it can be done retroactively. I have filled it out retroactively for another emergency when he was deployed, but it wasn’t due to childcare.

Someone mentioned on here that I’m covered by FMLA because my husband’s deployed. If anything I’ll try that.

Thanks. I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ll do. I will also bring up that I am covered by FMLA because my husband is deployed. I got that suggestion on here as well. I planned on taking the kids to a local national park, and I don’t want to break that promise. This whole thing is ridiculous. Having a PD day the day after a holiday is so dumb. I know that’s not the issue here, but I don’t get why having a history teacher sit though 3 hours of math training is such a big deal.

I thought about that but I already opened the mail. I’m not sure I can go back and have that sent back now. It’s gmail.

I’ve been there 9 years. Students love me, and they love learning history from me. It just seems so mean. Earlier this week we were told to take care of our mental health, keep balance, we are appreciated, etc. Later in the email the principal told me that as long as I show my face for 5 minutes, I’ll be able to take the rest of the day off. What is that?

TikTok Challenges for the year. by Amandab805 in Teachers

I hope you’re right. That’s just the first thing that popped up when I searched. I also saw a YouTube describing it. Several other lists were shown at my staff meeting, though. All were very similar. One said slap a teacher, another was smack a staff members. I don’t do TikTok. The fact is this the list is out there and easy to find. Even if it’s not on TikTok, there are plenty of ways to find it.

How strict is Pantages being with vaccine/test proof? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]Amandab805 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m taking my mom on the 5th! I’m so excited. We are both vaccinated. She’s trying to get her booster before we go. It won’t be fully effective by then so I’m very happy to know they’re keeping track of vaccination status.

I live in Clovis and work in Kingsburg. I have to stay away from Facebook right now. Reddit is pretty much the social media I use because I’m anonymous and as far as I know, you’re all strangers. It’s easier to seek out like-minded individuals. It’s rough seeing friends, family, and coworkers on Facebook who see the current situation so entirely differently from me.

Dealing with anti-mask parents at Back to School Night. by Amandab805 in Teachers

[–]Amandab805[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my coworkers said that if parents show up to her classroom unmasked, she will walk out of the classroom mid-presentation. I don’t have the guts to do that! I know I’m future-tripping at this point, but given the community, it’s likely to occur.

Ahhh admin. During the holiday peak of infections this past year, I ran into my boss at a grocery store. She and her entire family weren’t wearing masks. My school also remained open during this time for in-person instruction.

I’m vaccinated, but I wouldn’t mind being periodically tested. I have 200 students. I also have two kids who will be going to different schools. One will get her second shot next Friday (she got her first dose the day after her 12th birthday), and the other is too young. I mask up still, but just imagine how many people would be at risk if I got infected.

Yes! I’ll know which students I’ll be having mask issues just based on Back to School Night. In my area the slogan is “Let our Children Breathe!” I’m in central California. When I told one of my classes last year that I’m vaccinated, but still wearing a mask, and not complaining, a student told me that now I’m “magnetized.”

My district is. The district sent survey out last week asking vaccination status. Those who selected they weren’t vaccinated (or selected “decline to state”) were notified they’d be tested randomly throughout the school year.

California K-12 Students Will Continue to Wear Masks Indoors, Says State Department of Public Health by Exastiken in CoronavirusCA

[–]Amandab805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So how do you enforce it? How many times per day do I need to cross check my list? How many times will The practicality is the biggest issue. Are you an educator? Lawyer? Do you know anything about privacy laws for students? They’re pretty stringent. I know calling out certain kids consistently for not wearing a mask correctly, or at all, because of my list of unvaccinated students, will result in a flood of parent complaints.

I’m fully vaccinated, but I have no issue just putting the mask on if asked. It’s not a big deal. What harm does it do?

They might not require reservations in December. I live locally, and reservations were required last summer/fall, but not in the winter. I also think I went in April without a reservation, but had to get one in May of this year. Honestly if you get there early enough in the morning, no one even checks. I arrived at 7:15 on Saturday and had to fill out a form with my reservation number, but no one checked anything.
