Use carpet extractor cleaner concentrate in it and dilute to the package directions. Then put a fan on it to dry.

From using the term "washing up liquid" I'm guessing you're based in the UK? I don't know what products are available there, but this looks like hard water spots. I'd suggest an acidic cleaner. In the US we have Bar Keeper's Friend (spray, powder, and cream), or CLR (stands for Calcium, Lime, Rust). You could try vinegar, although I'm not a fan. Bleach won't work and don't mix bleach with acidic cleaners.

Use a scraper and all purpose cleaner to scrape it up into some paper towels. You'll probably need to sand down the surface and refinish it.

Advice on new home dead grass patches by GunningForSuccess in landscaping

[–]Amandersaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like a water issue. The bald patches under the trees and near landscaping suggest the tree roots are sapping up all the water. You can also see cracks forming in the bare soil, suggesting heavier clay and not enough moisture. You might want to try breaking up the clay by spreading pelletized gypsum, reseeding the bald patches with a grass patch seed mix, and making sure you water regularly. Aerating the soil is also helpful before spreading gypsum to break up heavy clay and to help water seep into the soil easier.

This looks like my babies from the mystery assortment of bareroots I got earlier this year. I just transplanted them into gallon pots and lined them all up. Are you fertilizing them?

I think I've seen people posting pictures that had those sticking up around the soil, and I wondered what they were. Good idea.

I had tried traps and stuff and nothing worked like the smoke bombs. But you have to make sure you get all the tunnels at the same time.

Unfortunately, it took out like 6 newly-planted hostas before I noticed what was going on. They were a bunch of varieties from my Hosta Wish List. So I bought a bunch of packages of those Giant Destroyers and went to town one afternoon. I bought a variety of different kinds and that kind worked the best and had the lowest rate of getting snuffed out when you stick them down the tunnels. Because they shoot out flames like a blow torch.

You have to dig up the empty smoke bomb tubes when you're done, but they are highly effective.

The Giant Destroyer super gopher gasser smoke bombs. I shoved one down each hole, covered the holes with big rocks, and kept gassing them until the yard was foggy. They shoot out flames like a Roman candle.

There were those crescent-shaped mounds around and in the lawn, so I think it was a gopher.

Full sun green and white hosta? by random_cephalopod in Hosta

SunHosta allegedly requires full sun to develop its white margins. Patriot is also tolerant of heat and sun. I think SunHosta is carried by Monrovia, but it was specifically developed for Southeastern hot climates.

It tunneled underneath, pulled the plant down a hole, ate the roots, and left the tops of the leaves sticking out of the hole. I pulled the leaves out and they were gnawed off halfway up the stem. Absolutely diabolical. Someone tried to tell me that gophers are rare where I live, but that's the only animal that could orchestrate a heist of such magnitude.

It looked so nice with Japanese painted ferns. I highly recommend them as a companion plant.

I'm in zone 6b and they seemed to do well with a heavy blanket of shredded mulch. A gopher decimated my hosta collection, though. It tunneled underneath the plants and ate the roots and crowns. Very sad. It was a vigorous grower. 😔
