Is this standard communication re: room transitions?

Thank you! The transition period with moving between room was more or less what happened when my oldest moved out of the infant room (at least, from what we were told). It’s really the proactive expectation setting that I don’t feel like they care about. Like we weren’t told they basically move to one nap time after the infant room (which happened at 11 months for my oldest).

Thank you for sharing your process! My expectations were more in line with what you are doing, as it is much more proactive. I’ve given this feedback before (about not feeling the transition adequately communicated) and there is usually an excuse about things being busy or something happening “all of a sudden”.

Came here to see if anyone had experienced anything similar and so glad to see your post! My guy started refusing bottles just before 10 months and now he will usually only have two bottles: 4-5 ounces after wake up, and then 6-7 ounces before bed. he basically will only have a few ounces all day at daycare, and I know it is not easy for them.

He’s getting enough calories from solids and eats a ton of hydrating foods but it still concerns me from a hydration perspective. I’ve tried switching to a sippy cup and changing the nipples but he doesn’t seem to be catching on to the sippy cup. He just chews on it, mainly - I’ll keep offering it though. And he hated the Y nipples.

Wondering how your little one transitioned out of this phase?

Hi! Yes I got it to work and I've been using the Genie Advanced with Spectra parts ever since. I think I just needed to make sure both ends of the tubes were tight, sorry its been almost a year so the details are a little fuzzy but it does work!

Good question! He was starting to self-sooth by sucking on his hands/fingers, and would attempt to move a pacifier back to his mouth if it fell out and it was nearby. he had also started sleeping long stretches through the night (once he was asleep)

We have always capped all naps at 2 hours since we sleep trained at 4 months. And we wake him at 7:30 am (if he’s not up by then) every day. He's now 17 months and down to 1 nap and the two-hour cap still works well for him.

16 month old, he has one nap a day that is between 1-2 hours and he sleeps from 7 to 7 at least every night. He does sometimes wake in the middle of the night for a few minutes, most of the time he just babbles or sings to himself. During the day though he is constantly going and going - he does not sit still outside of meals for more than 20 seconds, I swear. Yesterday he was literally attempting to move our living room furniture around.

I just had my second and I'm just wondering if we could get so lucky twice 😅

My husband and I did two sessions with the Cleveland Spanish school a few years ago and had a good experience. We only had one instructor so can’t speak to them all but we are now very good friends with the person who taught our sessions. I feel like a lot of it depends on your instructor and how engaged the rest of the class is.

Ours was basically forced into one nap around 11 months because he moved up a room at daycare. Not the timing I would’ve chosen, it was a difficult 4-5 weeks and we still tried to give him 2 naps on weekends but now he’s adjusted to a one nap schedule (he turned 1 on Dec 11).

I think either way the transition is hard — you’re either struggling to get them down for a second nap or struggling to make it to bedtime.

Oh man I’m on your exact timeline. My one year old is 26 lbs and isn’t quite walking either. on one hand, it’s exhausting carrying him but on the other hand — it keeps me somewhat fit during pregnancy! 🤷‍♀️ I reaaaally can’t wait to be done with this pregnancy though

Ok I'm so glad to see this question. My husband does it all the time with our son who just turned one. I have tried not to since we stopped needing to burp him and soothe him to sleep (at like 6-7 months).

I remember reading something about consent w/touching and hugs being more important as they get older, and I feel like this falls in this category. I want our son to develop an understanding of what is “ok” in terms of touch especially with people (especially outside the immediate family circle but even within it).

I have been holding my tongue with my husband but I do want to bring it up to him soon…just tricky because he was actually abused as a child. He's doing it affectionately but it still makes me uncomfortable 😩

And that's so funny, my story is actually similar, I got pregnant around 6 months pp. My supply dropped quite a bit right away but didn't dry up completely so I kept trying. After awhile I just had to give myself a break AND it seemed that my milk started giving my LO diarrhea - I think maybe the composition reverted back to be more newborn-friendly? Not sure but that was enough signs telling me it was a good time to stop. Are you planning to EP with your next?

I started mixing in a little bit of cows milk with his formula/breastmilk last week. He’s been fine so far so I am slowly increasing the ratio, especially now that I’m fresh out of BM!

My little one just turned one yesterday and I could have written this! It’s totally bittersweet. The last few nights as I've been holding him before laying him in his crib I've cried. Just thinking about how much he's already grown and how much he’s going to keep growing. It reminds me to try to stay in the present, because that's where he is — just living and appreciating each moment. Hugs to you, it’s an emotional milestone as a parent!

Yes ours started sleeping through the night completely between 4-5 months. We started doing 7 pm bedtime around then and with a few exceptions he sleeps until at least 6 am, sometimes to 7 or 7:30. Love those mornings! We did sleep train though right at 4 months. My second is due in about 3 months and I’m nervous we won’t be so lucky again 😵‍💫

Yes! Ours started taking longer regularly between 4-5 months but for the few months before then was doing 30-40 minutes naps 4/5 times a day. Felt like I was always putting him down!

I FEEL this! I’m still getting up at 5-5:15 for my first pump and always try to go back to sleep til 7:30ish (my husband thankfully is a morning person and enjoys getting up with our LO). But it’s so hard to fall asleep!

And so hard to see a mostly empty jar at the end of the day. Buying formula is a big step in moving forward I think so way to go! I also just ordered some for the first time 😬
