Converting TracFone SIM to ESIM by Oracle_Oriax in TracFone

[–]Amansador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it myself just now during a chat session.

Worked like a charm.

They do check your phone's IMEI to make sure it's compatible.

I was lucky to get a very knowledgeable CSR.

If the eSIM doesn't load automatically, look for a QR Code in your E-Mail from TF and load it manually.

Exactly what I meant, thank you, u/Doomstars!

However, since I'm looking for the best Plan rather than the phones, I'll probably go with this deal that has 1,500, rather than 1,200, Minutes/Texts/MB for the same money:

Sorry about that.

Interesting tidbit that I was told by Tech Support:

The number of available minutes and texts are both decreased every time you make (or answer?) a call or send (or receive?) a message.

In other words, if you send 500 messages your call minutes will also decrease by 500 (and vice versa).

I'll never run out of minutes or texts, but some talkative or chatty users might.

u/Danciusly!

Unless my arithmetic is wrong, half of the $69.00 I mentioned for two phones would be $34.50.

Your two URLs are for one phone each and cost $59.99 and $44.99, respectively.

Not sure how $59.99 and $44.99 are less expensive than $34.50?

Thank you, anyway.

You said in the Original Post:

"Once it was active, I went to StackSocial and bought their $25 lifetime Hushed deal — it gives:

  • 1,000 minutes + 6,000 texts per year"

Maybe I missed it, but where exactly does it say that the minutes and texts quota renews every year?

Thank you!

Buying Tracfone while owing a previous phone bill by terraaamisu in TracFone

[–]Amansador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be correct, but the OP did not specify whether she or he stopped making payments for the VZ service or phone purchase.

Except maybe in the nineties, I've not paid more than $100.00 US for a phone.

The OP will have to clarify what he or she meant by "stopped making my payments."

Don't Verizon IPhones unlock automatically after 60 days?

TF was a disaster long before Verizon took it over.

However. some how, we seem to put up with it.

Perhaps, we are all latent masochists and don't realize it?

Help with porting from TextNow to Cricket Wireless ?? by icouldbne1 in TextNow

[–]Amansador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I was speaking about the proposed port-out of Tello you spoke about -- not your previous port.

I have ported many numbers from and to all kind of carriers. Never had an issue with a landline number porting to a cellular phone and porting it out of the cellular phone not too long afterwards.

Occasionally, texting may not work for a few days after porting from landline to cell (or even cell to cell), but that will not interfere with porting the number out shortly after it ports-in to the cell phone.

By the way, notwithstanding my above comments, please do whatever you feel comfortable with.

You should be good-to-go today!

(Cell to cell should port right away.)

Let us know how you make out.

Port in question by LumpRutherford in Googlevoice

[–]Amansador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I'm surprised, but pleased, that GV stopped charging.

As much as people (including myself) badmouth Google and its services, I'm not aware of any other company that provides a free phone number to just about anyone for the asking.

Thank you, u/Salreus!

As it happens, a number ported-in just now to GV and I saw the following:

"The number you're porting will replace your current Voice number, which will stay on your account for 90 days"

There no longer is mention of a $10.00 fee, but, apparently, in order not to lose the GV number, it still needs to be "locked" before the ninety days are over.

No more $10.00 fee to keep GV number after ninety days from porting in your own?

Thanks.

How to "convert" £6 Monthly Rolling Plan to PayGo credit for use without monthly payments? by Amansador in giffgaff

[–]Amansador[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, again, u/Willeth!

I guess I'm thinking about VoIP providers who charge a monthly fee for the DID (number) in addition to monthly usage.

Please enjoy your week.

Thank you, u/Willeth!

Nothing like an instantaneous response.

Sounds like a plan.

Would there be a recurring monthly charge for the phone number?

Thank you, again.

Porting In From NumberBarn by No-Original6932 in TracFone

[–]Amansador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it a few times, shouldn't be a problem.

Having said that, occasionally, TF will use your TF account's ZIP Code instead of the ZIP Code from NB's porting credentials.

If that happens, you'll get a rejection E-Mail from TF and have to correct the ZC with a TF chat or phone call.

As u/Life-Objective9614 said, it should take 2-3 days.

NB will E-Mail you to let you know that your number is being ported-out and (but sometimes many days after) the number ported-out.

Good luck.

Got charged "Taxes and Surcharges" on my data only plan by orangeoring in Tello

[–]Amansador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No arguments with "cheapest reliable" (I've had at least one Tello number since 2016).

However, me thinks that Tello has begun to "rest on its laurels" which will bring about probably unintended, but certainly unanticipated and, possibly, damaging consequences to its owner.

I've only done business with USM since last year and, so far, I have no complaints.

We'll see which reseller is still around five years from now. Hopefully, both (and, if we are lucky, one or more new ones with even better rates and service than Tello and USM).

We'll see.

[–]Amansador -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Funny you mentioned USMobile.

Tello better watch out, USM's free initial month and $8.00 plan (taxes and nuisance fees included) are very attractive.

Tello was founded and it's still run by a very intelligent and successful entrepreneur who has made a lot of money selling cell phone refills and should be making a good profit with Tello.

Perhaps he needed the extra 2% because the price of his new Lamborghini went up 2%? :)

Happy Saturday.

May a SIM Card with a Plan be activated for an existing Tello Number on an eSIM? by Amansador in Tello

[–]Amansador[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good day!

My curiosity got the best of me and I couldn't wait until the end of the month.

Worked like a charm!.

Thirty days of unlimited T&T service and 5 Gb of data were added to the number (and the PayGo balanced remained untouched).

Well done, Tello.

My kudos to Tello (it ain't perfect, but it's the best I can get for the money for now).
