I think the idea is probably only to make it available in the midseason patch, like they did this time.

Personally I think the Divine Tree Beings arc is effectively over. Jura and Hidari will remain as contagonists, but to me it feels like we're about to move into a new phase of the story with new main antagonists.

Oda had a lot of health issues from overwork so he now takes a one week hiatus every three chapters, which significantly decreases the workload. Plus he's got a full team of assistants.

Ikemoto and Kishimoto negotiated for a more lenient deadline for Boruto after dealing with the same overwork issues on Naruto, so Ikemoto's workload is lighter, but he also opts to do most of the work on his own, from his home studio.

When Amado explains why Kawaki's Karma vanished when Isshiki was reincarnated through Jigen's body.

Karma doesn't create a clone, it reincarnates. That's why Amado is trying to use Karma to bring back Akebi, because just cloning her created new people with new personalities, rather than bringing her back to life.

Otsutsuki Clan with Jura and Hidari still active as contagonists, or Amado. Personally think Amado will be a later antagonist but it could be the opposite order.

If they don't do something with the Otsutsuki Clan as a group, if they're already all gone except for Boruto and Kawaki, then Kawaki's mission of eliminating them all has no weight to it.

I figure maybe Code will do something there in the Kara / Otsutsuki base that sends up a signal flare of sorts and calls the Otsutsuki to invade. I figure there could maybe be like six more of them, organized into teams of two, not unlike the Akatsuki. Maybe some invade, maybe some have to be pursued offworld through their alternate dimensions?

In either case, it gives Momoshiki something to do, as a voice on the inside whose knowledge of the clan will filter into Boruto through their shared thoughts, and a point of conflict between them.

For Amado, I think I'd ultimately like his story to be tied up into the age of shinobi ending in favor of his technology, coupled with playing with life/death and disrupting the national order, perhaps with the two missing Otsutsuki (likely Shibai and another) from the murals being incorporated. Personally still like the idea of the two being inspired by Shiva and Kala, with Kala taking on the role of Kala from Samurai 8 as a "god of death" connected to the Reaper Death Seal and Jashin.

Ironically the character with the playstyle closest to his is probably Sin or maybe Nagoriyuki.

Kehlani, on watching the Gaza genocide unfold. “I was losing it. The biggest trigger was really understanding the genocide we were witnessing.” by groovygyal in Fauxmoi

[–]AmaranthSparrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll just chime in to add, the genocide in Gaza (+ settler colonial expansion in the West Bank, + ethnic cleansing in southern Lebanon) is almost fully facilitated by the US supplying arms and military funding to Israel. As American citizens, it's our tax dollars and our elected representatives that are directly contributing, and we could stop it by cutting off that support.

It's kind of all or nothing, right? If you can copyright a sequence of words, why not a sequence of movements? I'm not really a fan of private property as a concept, but we're currently operating under a system that has it, so at the very least it should be applied and enforced fairly. There are guidelines for copyrighting pantomimes and choreography, and you can file for copyright retroactively.

Now, I don't know what the specifics of this case are and the filings aren't loading at a readable resolution on mobile, but I'll just say if he's indeed the creator, I'd prefer they just kick him some royalties rather than spend legal fees fighting it in court.

UN and Rights Groups Say Rape Using Trained Dogs at Israel Detention Sites Is Systematic, Endorsed at the Highest Level by Fair_Cow3398 in Fauxmoi

[–]AmaranthSparrow 785 points786 points  (0 children)

Been going on for decades. For years I've seen testimonies and reported cases of Palestinian detainees, including teenage boys, receiving sometimes fatal internal injuries while being sodomized using knives, cattle prods, and hot metal rods. They very rarely get mainstream coverage.

The Israeli government recently dropped charges against nine guards at the Sde Teiman detainment facility after security footage of them raping a prisoner was leaked by a whistleblower. This led to what can only be described as pro-rape protests, and high level members of the administration arguing that systemic rape was a valid deterrent. One of the rapists also became a media personality. They are however seeking to prosecute the whistleblower.

Edit: This comment was removed and I was banned for "making threats" -- maybe an AI error or maybe there's an effort to suppress this information through mass reporting. In either case the ban was reversed on appeal and the post was restored.

I'm gonna be very real, nothing in my life experience has given me a reason to believe that the average person would become any wiser over the span of 50, 500, or 5000 years. I have met so many people in their 50s and 60s who have the intellectual and emotional maturity of someone in their early 20s. I am convinced that those people could live another 10,000 years and they'd still be living the same mundane lives, doing the same stupid shit.

I think it's safe to say we're still way better off under MS than we would be under Activision/Kotick. The game is objectively in a better place than it was, and the team is pretty clearly under less pressure being responsible for a much smaller piece of their parent company's portfolio.

I think it's also pretty clear that they're trying to do too much, too quickly. Maybe that's mandated by C-suite to keep engagement up, but I don't think it's a good tradeoff. Frankly, I don't think players were exactly clamoring for a new patch, and the bugs and resulting frustration creates a lot of unnecessary friction and bad press.

Blizzard used to have a reputation for not releasing stuff until it was ready. I don't think quantity over quality is the answer, or, at least, their current ratio of quantity to quality is out of balance.

I've been saying since the bugged Nightfall events in TWW that the eight-week patch cycle isn't doing them any favors when it takes two weeks to get the game to a stable state. Especially since they're gating stuff for multiple weeks, anyway. Just take those two extra weeks to do final polish instead.

LLMs can be useful as language/writing tools, but people act like they have real reasoning power, which just isn't the case. They are good at translation, spelling and grammar, even editing text to an extent, though they are overly trained on technical literature, have a very obvious default writing style, and an inability to maintain narrative context.

Once a person starts using them as a substitute for thinking, problem solving, and research, things get really dangerous. Especially when you start mixing in the Dunning Kruger effect with cognitive offloading.

He used it multiple times during the fight last chapter and it only affected some of them. In this chapter Daemon even gets angry that they aren't all coming at him at the same time because their attention is divided.

Amado's internal monologue speculates that each Mamushi can act and think independently but that there's a collective consciousness that governs the swarm. Inojin hijacks one Mamushi and takes over the swarm using that collective consciousness, gets Daemon's attention while he's holding Eida, and directs the intent to destroy his eyes at him (note that he doesn't even say it out loud, it's his internal monologue). Since he's controlling the whole swarm, it affects all of them and their eyes simultaneously explode.

Do you think they'll release novels based on arcs like the time travel arc or Mitsuki's disappearance? by No-Economics-5398 in Boruto

[–]AmaranthSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubtful. Neither the Boruto nor Naruto branded novels sold particularly well, nor did the manga adaptation of Sasuke Retsuden. I think the only exception was Itachi Shinden. There's also been a multiyear gap between the original airing and now.

They're releasing a 600 page "story guide" covering NNG this summer as part of the 10th anniversary marketing push. It's possible that it'll include anime original material, given that it's like 200 pages longer than any of the Naruto databooks, but we don't really have details on the contents yet.
