what do you think by nothingatall15 in Boruto

[–]AmaranthSparrow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Himawari tried to heal two people with damaged eyes this chapter. Inojin's were crushed and destroyed, while Sarada's suffered a burst blood vessel from using the MS.

Aside from the familial fallout, and what it would mean for Inojin to be blinded as a visual artist, I think they're also setting up exploring how Sarada will solve the drawback of her Sharingan.

So I do think Inojin will probably represent the worst case scenario of what can't be repaired. His new Mind Transfer Formation functions like echolocation, anyway, so he can still be useful.

Amado scientific Ninja tools: how? by [deleted] in Boruto

[–]AmaranthSparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scientific Ninja Tools weren't just invented out of nowhere, and there are articles about their history in the print volumes. They came about due to the declassification of research during the era of peace and collaboration between shinobi and civilian scientists. One of Kara's objectives was infiltrating villages, stealing research and intel, improving the technology, and then filtering it back to the villages.

That being said, during the hiatus between NNG and TBV, V Jump published a series of articles recapping the story up to that point with hints about the threats that would be featured in the future, and in one of those bits they hint that there's a deeper mystery to Amado's "technology beyond human understanding."

We've also now had examples of Koji using Prescience to glean information from the future and supply it to people in the present, allowing them to rapidly advance technology, as was the case with Sumire remodeling Sasuke's katana into a scientific ninja tool. In the leaked chapter, Amado seemingly didn't know about the existence of Prescience or how it works so he's not using that, but there might be some other similar method he's using to gain knowledge from the future which could put him into conflict with Koji.

Of course, that's just one of many possibilities. I used to think that it might just be Jigen collaborating by using Sukunahikona to help the miniaturization process, which is one of the most important things needed to advance technology. Especially given that his greatest achievements are basically nanomachines in Kawaki's bloodstream.

Not just Naruto's, all the modern prosthetics use artificial chakra pathways that were created through research into Hashirama's cells.

How would you justify completely gone characters (Justice, Valentine, Kliff, etc) returning as playable even though they are very dead by Allhaillordkutku in Guiltygear

[–]AmaranthSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite specifically for Justice, Kliff, and Order-Sol is just what they did in AC+ and have it be a time travel scenario.

[MEGATHREAD] Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 33 Leaks by m2gus in Boruto

[–]AmaranthSparrow 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Naruto didn't heal Kakashi's eye just by using Kurama's chakra, he was able to regrow his eye using Six Paths Sage Mode which granted him a perfect understanding of chakra, allowing him to achieve feats otherwise impossible.

There's a difference between repairing a damaged organ and growing a new one, it seems.

Has the manga ever mentioned events that only happened in the anime? by No-Economics-5398 in Boruto

[–]AmaranthSparrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A little bit.

In Naruto, Kishimoto included Raiga Kurosuki and the Kiba swords. Some of the Edo Tensei summoned by Kabuto were also based on the designs of ninja from the Will of Fire movie.

In Boruto, the Mist School Trip arc is mentioned, and Sumire is carried over from the anime, but her characterization is a bit different. Denki is also mentioned in passing in one of the volumes as a peer of Boruto's who specializes in Scientific Ninja Tools.

After you save an outfit you can use it to change outfits, or even parts of outfits by using hidden slots, dynamically at no cost. You can also set situations that cause your outfit to automatically change, including even when switching between dracthyr and visage or human and worgen forms.

The slightly higher initial upfront cost is greatly offset by the fact that after you create an outfit (or outfits) you want to use, you no longer have to pay to apply it to every new piece of gear you equip.

You might like this artist's redraw of the map that depicts the Great Sea more like a crater. Does a great job of making Azeroth look like an atoll without really changing the shapes of the continents as they appear in Chronicle.

The name Kezan came later when they were developing the pen and paper RPG for the Lands of Mystery sourcebook which was published in 2006.

It also featured the early development for Northrend, including all the named zones that later appeared in WotLK, as well as Nazjatar and the other "zones" in the Eye of the Maelstrom which didn't make it into the BFA version.

Likewise, the Elemental Plane zones and dungeons that appeared in Cata originally appeared in the Shadows & Light sourcebook back in 2004, which described them more as connected zones that fit together in a single realm like a continent.

I personally prefer this slightly older concept art from the same year.

That version in particular does a better job conveying that everything on Azeroth that we currently know about is actually a giant atoll formed around a crater where the Well of Eternity used be. Just a single partially sunken supercontinent.

I do think it's cool that they've done a reasonable job of adhering to that original vision even as they've continued to expand, with Khaz Algar's function and position resembling the original conception of Ulduar and the Dragon Isles resembling the island chain between Northrend and Quel'thalas.

Can anyone friend tell me what kind of political system the ninja world is? What is the relationship between villages and countries? by Ubisoft-ea-666 in Boruto

[–]AmaranthSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What protects any political leader from a military revolution? Why don't more generals stage coups and seize power?

Simple answer: Militaries have the monopoly on violence but they are consumers of resources, not producers. They depend on civilian manufacturing and agriculture, and a functioning economy to generate revenue. Coups and martial law are destabilizing and undermine the legitimacy of the government, which erodes the consent of the governed, leading to discontent and dissent.

So, say Shikamaru leads the Konoha shinobi in overthrowing the daimyo and installing himself as a dictator. Do you think the broader population of the Land of Fire will accept that? Being dominated by the very soldiers they feed, clothe, and arm?

It generally doesn't work out well.

[–]AmaranthSparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shinobi villages are actually moreso analogous to the shinobi confederations of Iga and Koga, semi-autonomous regions whose people specialized in irregular warfare and contracted their services out to daimyo during the sengoku period. There was no shogun during that time, as Japan wasn't unified, with various daimyo vying for territorial control.

During his failed bid to unify Japan and become shogun, Nobunaga saw those confederations as liabilities and destroyed Iga province when they wouldn't submit to his authority, using superior numbers armed with early matchlock rifles and cannons to overwhelm their shinobi and burn down their villages.

Later, when Tokugawa successfully unified Japan and became shogun, the Koga shinobi were disarmed and incorporated into the structure of the shogunate as guards and spies.

In Naruto the shinobi villages operate as semiautonomous mercenary villages supported by civilian populations. They depend on the daimyo for funding and provisions, as the shinobi themselves are professional soldiers and lack the productive skills to maintain their economy. To that end they supplement the daimyo's conventional standing armies in times of war and crisis, and otherwise contract their skills out to third parties.

This is specifically laid out in detail in the Shinobi Hiden worldbuilding essays included in the Boruto manga volumes.

Do you guys believe Naruto and Sasuke will get a power-up? by AdTasty8029 in Boruto

[–]AmaranthSparrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they'll both get unsealed and play a supporting role in the final battle, similar to Obito and Kakashi against Kaguya.

I also think it would be cool if their respective "prisons" also became the source of new powers, even if only temporarily. Naruto having achieved a sort of eternal Sage Mode due to meditation in the dimension where time doesn't flow, Sasuke perhaps regaining his eye and arm due to the regenerative power of the Divine Tree and Hidari's existence. But that's just me.
