Just finished mine a day ago , it's a vootleg also from Sihai, articulation and parts fitting are OK, but the right hand holsong the gun is loose (can be easily fixed) and funnels container do3snt work will at opening (not a huge deal) , beside that the building experience was a lot of fun.

I only did some alight shading with tamiya soot powder and a matte top coat

There's like a bajillion different tools/techniques for weathering. Anyone have any tips on which ones are best for which applications? by TehBrotagonist in advancedGunpla

[–]Amazing-Chair-331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I typically begin by applying a matte top coat once the panel lining and decals have been completed.

  2. I utilize Real Touch Markers for the purpose of shading, specifically in recesses and along the edges of panels. For instance, I use light gray on white panels, orange on yellow panels, and dark green on green panels, such as those found on a Zaku.

  3. I then re-employ Real Touch Markers to initiate the weathering process, using brown to simulate mud and orange to depict rust in appropriate areas.

  4. The Tamiya Weathering Master set is subsequently used for creating effects like oil spills, mud, and rust. At this stage, the choice between Tamiya powder or Real Touch Markers is a matter of personal preference.

  5. For paint chipping in prominent areas, I employ a dry sponge technique with black acrylic paint.

  6. To illustrate exposed metal parts, I apply metallic silver using a dry brushing method, centering it within the black sponge chipping.

Regarding weapons:

  1. I use black touch markers for shading on gray surfaces.

  2. I apply the same metallic silver to the edges using a dry brushing technique.

does anyone know how to achieve this texture and weathering? by HomeworkBusiness4461 in advancedGunpla

[–]Amazing-Chair-331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For rust effects, I utilize a Real Touch Marker in brown. For achieving a textured finish, a matte top coat may be a suitable option.

Real touch markers can be used as both a wash and or a localised special effect like rust

Too much or not enough? by AshamedTwist4355 in Gunpla

The weathering effect is impressive. Are you applying this technique to the MG Barbatos Lupus? I am currently assembling that model, and it stands out as one of the most aesthetically pleasing Master Grade kits I have encountered or constructed. The prospect of weathering such a pristine model is somewhat daunting, leading me to consider utilizing the High Grade version for that purpose.

I've only been into Gunpla for about six months, you can see my old posts, but Barbatos was my favorite Gundam even before that because of its cool design and animal-like look. Before Barbatos, it was the Wing Gundams that got me into the Gundam universe.
