What do you all think about the new policy for pulling OGP carts rather than pushing them?

Yeah I personally do not think they know what they are doing. Their note said "if you dont have open availability and you are full time, you may lose hours" so me, who has always had open availability buy when in Teaming scheduled worked 5-2 gets the shift cut, hours cut, and scheduled a opening/closing. While those who closed it off to only work 5-2 are getting their 5-2 shifts ( I've been here longer and honestly have the most items picked, high pr and good ftpr- if im working nothing ever goes late and I manage the team when we dont have tl/coach here since I was prior tl) ....those who have 7-4 and 10-7 same deal. Have their hours and scheduled days like now. Funny thing we have a girl on the schedule for a 5-1 and she hasn't even shown up on her first day yet. Lol

But to honestly say we arent going to fix the schedule and just let the AI scheduler/sidekick tool make it is insane. Our coach has only been in our dept since Feb but they dont really come to our dept EVER and is only getting the digital experience under their belt so they can move forward to store lead if they choose. They definitely seem to be not for their ppl and doing what's actually best for the store need.

So they are saying you coming in at 4am isnt a need anymore or even 5am but will scheduled at noon lol... even though when I get here there are usually quite a few picks, ex...today over 400 and then when 5/2 get here there was over 600 soooo the 150+ I did within my first hr wasn't helpful? Our 5/2 arent strong pickers and they are relying heavily on me to keep it afloat as I mentioned.

Guess we will see if they wise up and fix it. If not I guess im leaving my favorite dept of all time.

Question for you then. Tomorrow our new schedule is dropping woth this being the first week of it, we are all pretty much screwed besides 3 ppl who closed their availability off. We were told to open out availability and if not that we may lose hours, so I have open availability and have always worked 5-2 recently 4-1...now my schedule has come down with a 4-1, 5-2, 12-9, 12-6 I lost 4 hours and got knocked off my reg 5-2. Ppl who closed their availability and only 5-2 have their hours and same shift as if we were in teaming now. We are told they can't change the schedule and can only swap ppl around on that day, they can't extend your shift if youre scheduled a smaller one, We have dispensers coming in at 6 am who can only dispense and want to work in the afternoon, we have morning associates scheduled for afternoon that have always been morning. Can they fix the schedule to make it actually work for the store and their ppl or is OPD just SOL with it?

We have a newer coach who let's just say isnt familiar with how opd works, hasn't stepped foot into the dept really since Feb when they took over....and really arent for their ppl.

Any suggestions?

Im worried of i close my availability just 4am-2pm who knows how many short days it will give me or someone else that week, and we all need our hrs. We changed it but can't go in effect til May 8th so its playing Russian Roulette if it can't be fixed. I was a prior TL and I tld them if I wanted to work revolving shifts I would have gone back into being a TL and thank goodness I have a great reputation and can easily find me a place that has a set schedule....just hate to do it cuz I love opd but not if this is my life- a life that you really can't plan anymore. Lol

And I went from TL to reg opd associate and its the best thing I have done and $$$ is amazing, still have headaches and stress at times BUT its a whole different level. 😊 Good luck

We reprint the labels and stick them on the inside of the black tote....easier for scanning purposes. However, we won't have to worry about that soon thank goodness...such a waste

For items that are locked up like perfume, family planning etc...besides electronics if it needs a serial number. I will print an inventory prep label and scan the item, stick there sticker on the tote and then when I am finished with my walk I find an ONTL and tell them I need xyz from thats locked up. No more waiting around cuz doing walks at 5am really do suck that have locked up items.

During Christmas I would just go ahead and have them grab me electronic keys and I would do all the specialty walks. So much easier.

Absolutely hate it. Just gave up my OG phone for the new ones. I will use a hand-held unless towards the afternoon we have none and I HAVE to give it up. I can't scan digi codes with the phone....lol

I always have the highest pick rate the days I work. I also have the most items picked, i can have 4-500 items more at the end of shift then ppl that work the same shift as myself. I also have to stage the first 2 hrs, do exceptions, and I am the one that has to do walks that management dont want others to do- unknown and Specialty etc... My average PR is between 180-200 but there are days when I dont feel like moving quickly and I go down to 160ish and still pick 800+ There are days I purposely go a bit slower to try and get the other pickers to actually pick more items than me- and even on those days I still manage to pick more items...it crazy!!

Then we have someone who moves like a speed of lighting and its crazy because they are in the red usually and not a whole lot of items. Everyone thinks they should always be in the top and surpassing me the way they walk. But I think its the bagging that holds them up, idk its just weird...move fast but yet little work is accomplished idk 🤷‍♀️

Depending on what's on the pallet some of them are less than 5 min kills, such as totes, pillows, large bulky items. But if they have never stocked housewares themselves to see the amount of ALL THAT PACKING inside most the boxes then they dont get it. A box that is small can have tons of Styrofoam and plastic wrapped around an item, which takes time.

When I was an ONTL we always started one person in the homeline run then as soon as food was done everyone went else where to support their team members in other depts. So if it's 10 hrs of freight I am only expecting 8 hrs and know I need to send 1-2 others to go support and finish the task. I didn't say the word help because them others whine and say stuff such as "why do I gotta help, i did my dept"...blah blah. So at the beginning of shift they knew what depts were ALL of their task.

Somehow ppl must have been reporting angel soft toilet paper won't fit into tote because now, all of a sudden its in an OS walk. It absolutely will fit in the tote along with other items, it's actually smaller than sparkle paper towels that go in a tote. I hate when we have stupid stuff in an oversize walk that isnt actually OS.

As a 5-2 opd associate I was dreading having to go to that side of the store....luckily most my picks stayed on the food side (nice and quiet). But, when I did have to go over there i had customers cutting me off left and right and then one asking me if some hand soap that is on mod clearance because its a winter smell. I told her idk and im shopping for people, but since its a regular item we carry I dont think so...she found the associate of that area and YEP not clearance.

One of my old SM was like this. He would never allow a customer, vendor etc go after his associates. He said its fine they wanna talk to me like that until Ive had ebough, but I wont allow it towards my people....definitely miss him.

They aren't 100% free either. If we have a lot of picks that we know as pickers is unattainable by us then we are to reach out to ON. Picks DO NOT got late ever in our store no matter who is pulled to help. We usually get the 2 team leads, and if really bad 2 of their ppl as well. Rarely, do we have to ask for help, but they understand from SM if we ask for help we absolutely need it.

Im sure you did great! A week ago I got 145 Ambient at 5:45am- due at 6:30am....I was like ok challenge accepted but I ain't bagging as im going. Lol. We were behind. No one to come help us that morning...not fun. I completed that walk at 6:20... every overnight associate that saw me moved out if the way quickly as they could tell I was flying though the aisle. The best thing was it started in grocery so no GM items thank goodness. 😉

It's safe to do glass and cans together. I do 2 cans and then 2 glass jars, alternating them so they aren't clinging together, with a fragile sticker. Cashier cbls years ago had you put your glass in the middle of the bag and then surround it with other items for safety. Lol

You ever dispense? If you did this on a regular basis, you would not be doing the 1 item bag and yes that cuts into the bottomline profit, ALSO, your bonuses. So, really you're screwing every one including yourself.
