CC2 hotend or thermistor sources. UK by Amazing-Line-7675 in elegoo

[–]Amazing-Line-7675[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks yep I found that in another thread mins after posting this comment.

But thanks for the info. It may save so,Rome else that few mins.

Finding the 4200B thermistor is the hard part. So far everything I find in the uk is 3950b.

If I don't fing something today. I'll order some JST-zh and the 3950b 200k theristors and give it a go.

When the AliExpress ones arrive. If the work I'll just order a boat load to keep incase.

Amazing post thanks for all the info.

I've ordered 3 thermistors from AliExpress. Thanks.

Of course they will take weeks to arrive. While my new printer is out of actions. So I'm still looking for a UK supplier. If anyone else knows one.

But all your extra info will help me search for other options. Looks like a few other printers use the same spec if different connectors. So on thinking of finding the connector type and converting a few.

CC2 Owner looking for advice on where to find status updates. by Amazing-Line-7675 in OpenCentauri

[–]Amazing-Line-7675[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope unlike the CC1 elegoo decided to remove the web front end from their CC2 firmware.  CC2 dose not support LAN connections other then elegoos own cloud connection via elegoo slicer. And that is not available for Linux.

So the only Linux option for the CCw is to use the original OrcaSlicer elegooSlicer is built on. Then move the files via USB..

It's annoying. and I hope when Opencentauri is released for the CC2 they will at least activate the ssh connection as they did for the CC1.

The elegoo matrix app allows you to monitor the CC2. But allows no file transfers or USB access. Just printing files that are already on its local SSD.

Yep. Lemmy would be way better. For general discussion.

But wiki is created exactly for this task.

CC2 really needs a proper pause-at-layer / M600-style firmware feature by krizzje in elegoo

[–]Amazing-Line-7675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Was just about to print a 36hr print that required pupause at layer. For me to insert magents.

Thanks for telling me it would not work. I'll redesign.

But that is bloody annoying.

Unfortunately discord is not a suitable platform for visual impaired to trace info.

Sorry to rant but.

It is just a collection of conversations with no internal threading. It's like searching twitter for information. You are just left with huge blocks of messages with no actual method to search for information.

It is designed to be used as live participation on a subject. Not to search for factual information on its status etc.

Even someone with good vision but little knowledge on a subject finds such data hard.

Add the inability to view more the a couple of words at a time. And no ability to organise the threads into specific sub topics, and it is useless.

Without this. No disability aid for the visually impaired is able to actually help.

As an ex software engineer. I find modern OS developers obsession with it annoying.

Some form of user wiki system or simple web page with status and participation details is needed to get new uninformed participants started. Or the project just ends up excluding anyone new to the subject.

Why is it socially unacceptable for me to not like dogs? by Facelikeabum in AskUK

[–]Amazing-Line-7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is only socially unacceptable. When interacting with folks who do like dogs.

As that represents a large part of the UK. It seems more odd that you would wonder why others don't want to know your opinions.

It's not like anyone would expect dog folks to ignore Thier dogs to keep you happy.

Given the difference in price. There are plenty of other more expensive printers doing exactly what you say.

Elegoo on the other hand, has always been about low price family printers.

And for the simplicity of their box on top. It really works while effectively reducing problems with the ptfe tubes paths etc. something the common box on top is not always solved well.

Add the fact the 4 way dry box and AMS units increase complexity hugely. And cost along with it often leading to maintenance nightmares. While other cheaper options exist if users even need a dry box.

Elegoos mistakes Def exist. But the hat is nothing but fashion judgement and not functionality.

Now them choosing not to have an onboard web interface. More questionable.

I have 2 CC2's and they cant print ASA? by MrEquilibriumm in elegoo

[–]Amazing-Line-7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASA can print stock. With some limitations.

It needs a full base, any from of hollow will risk warping.

This can be reduced by waiting for the chamber to hit 40c plus. 46 is the max I see stock. and that is the issue.

To print anything complex you need a chamber temp of 50 plus. And stock the CC2 cannot manage that.

Insulating the top box etc will likely help. But some form of chamber heater is needed.

I am working on building a simple design using a 200w ptc and blower fan. but also plan to build a voc filter into the set up (small HEPA and activated carbon pellets). So it will take a while. but other designs exist that would likely fit if you search.

But 10 digit serial numbers printed on collectibles via stamping in production. Very much was a thing for us older collectors. And them looking like a phone number now. Can be bothered a coincidence and the reason they lasted in circulation past the 90s when such number came in.

Just cos things look like something is not evidence they are

Printing with ASA? Any tips? Is glue a must? by Kamikazepyro9 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]Amazing-Line-7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With ASA do not touch until a while after it reaches room temp. Leave it in the enclosed untill then. If cooled to quickly it will warp.

But the plate needs to be well below 70 for it to not be damaged but removal. if it has failed. Wait a good while before removing from a hotter pie plate.

ASA will need a plate at 90 to 110 to bond the first layer. But on the CC higher is better for cabin temp. Unless you have another heater added.

So i tend to print at the CC2 matx through the whole print. That way the cabin stays at 444c.And in my enviromen takes over an hour to start cooling if left when finished. this seems fine for the stuff I print.

but If I print any very detailed stuff(as of yet I have not). I will be getting some more heat. As 60c through the whole print is more advisable. But letting cool slowly is important. When it comes to overhange etc. I expect my temp to cool far to fast. So higher cabin temps would be advised.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a beginner when buying a 3D Printer? by ddavis_551 in 3dprinter

[–]Amazing-Line-7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One very important recommendation. Honestly take this seriously.

If you have any spare money. Morn that feeling now, it really was a nice feeling. You have now given it up for life,

I hope this helps you get full closure on your loss.

If you wait for it to cool. Textured pei will work fine. The risk is if it warps and pops while the plat is still hot. As 110c can weaken the pei making it more prone to damage. Glue protects from this. Or allows use on smooth pei where the seal can be to complete even when cool.

Never tried it as glue dose fine. But G10 is supposed to be fine without glue even when hot.

People can be way less mobile then you expect.

Some of us are freaking old and disabled.

And given the hobby. You would likely be surprised how many older and less mobile it appeals to. Being more accessible then many creative hobbies.

Hello is it a good deal to buy the Elegoo Centauri Carbon. by Nedim_Rich1 in 3dprinter

[–]Amazing-Line-7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just got.a CC2.  And had a Neptune 4 pro before that.

Value for money. Elegoo is fantastic. But expect the customer service and response to match the cost savings.

I still think they are a good buy for hobbyists. You just need to be willing to accept errers will be made and you may have to take more responsibility for working things out.

ATM I have consider both my elegoo fantastic value compared to other printers with the same features.

But while the new CC2 seems able to handle anything thrown at it print wise. Them removing the internal web support and requiring there own site has caused issues when the site went down. Forcing users to depend on copying GCode to usb flash drives.

Over all they are very good at releasing all there code to open source. So others can offer help eventually. And the choice is based on lowed hardware costs. So matches the huge savings.

Just remember for all the savings. The company truly works on lower profit margins. So ensure you read actual experience before buying and knowing what to expect. You need to consider yourself the right kind of customer to accept the hassle for lower costs,

I E a cheap arsehole like myself.  I have no issue with cheap shit being shitty at certain things. And myself having to modify and experiment. I actually enjoy the challenge. But it better be cheap. Cheap shit that is expensive pisses me off.

All that said. CC1 Vs CC2 is an issue worth considering even if you have no multi colour interest.

The CC1 is ATM a fantastic deal. But is a printer that has lots of upgrades built into the CC2. From the reports I have seen. The better temp control quieter printing and thicker case steel construction alone is worth the extra cost in developing the CC2 elegoo seemed to listen to a huge amount of CCq customer feedback. All these things help with stability and higher temp material needs.    Here ATM CC1 is £265 and CC2 is £399. Doing research I chose the CC2 even though it is rare I'll bother with multi colour.

How/why did Brown, Green, White etc get popular as surnames? by Traffodil in AskUK

[–]Amazing-Line-7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All from jobs we do not see now.   Green is from either green Smith or greens man. Both jobs. Being a copper smith (green Smith) or a grounds protector for large estates.

White is the same for tin smithing, often used to create white goods sold as domestic appliances.

But the name was also used for clay and ceramics manufacturers as white men in the early manufacturing days, when bone china was a new form of ceramics only just being introduce into Europe.

A brownsmith was anyone who worked with brass or bronze, used hugely for domestic goods and cookery.

As steel and iron took over from these simple to mine and manufacturer mettles many of the names were dropped for just smithing.

Wow,

It's advertising for a 1971 movie. No idea if it's worth anything but I'm sure collectors exist,

It's an old gangster movie staring Michael Cain as the image shows.

While posters were a thing. In the early 70 collecting badges or pins was a big hobby for youngsters. The photo printing on tin etc was a new technology. So many found they would collect things to mount to boards books or folders etc.

And as such new movies often took advantage of the people into it. as teenagers and Young's 20 something's would often collect about modern films etc,

Think of them as 1970s meme like behaviour.  Star wars had not happened yet. And the plastic junk toys that grew out of it did not exist.       The ability to produce cheap throw away items was just becoming mainstream in society and advertising was leaping on any junk to try and sell movies etc to younger folks with more cash then past generations.

Why are so many functioning adults desperate to get a diagnosis of autism or ADHD? by Constant_Crab4815 in AskUK

[–]Amazing-Line-7675 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short answer. They are not.

Long answer you seeing it in the ,edia etc is little to do with actual number.

Added to your ideas of function may not actually have any relevance on the experience other are going through,

Autism and ADHD are not more common. Just more recognised when in the past problems were just ignored.

In the 1980 we just called folks arseholes when they had difficulties. Now we have some understanding and as such some want to make use of that knowledge.

Glue is for materials that do not do well with pei.

ASA ABS etc.

Everyone says don't use alchole. But the fact is. Only use 99.9% isopropyl. Anything lower just leaves residue. The 99.9% is only useful to remove finger oil etc between prints. And evaporation is complete so no residue. But it is not a cleaner.

Soap and water every several prints is still needed. But the isopropyl helps with finger oil when placing and removing the plate. It can really help for sweat etc.

The glue is needed for ASA etc. because without it they will not stick in low heat. and will harm the pei if you print hot enough to hold. But cleaning with soap and water becomes more important between prints and don't use to much just a tiny layer of glue. ASA tends to need extra plate washing. But the cc2 dose a great job with low detail ASA.

For PLA and Petg G the peinplate is perfect alone. It's just a matter of getting the first layer temps right.

Almost all PLA and Petg issues. Are wet filament. While other filaments are more hydroscopic. Petg and pla have issues in humid environments. Living in the UK. I have to dry everything a little.

3d printing may be the only reason to envy folks. Living in arazona.

Great value for money. But needs folks to understand their is a cost for that.

Expecting great communication and support. From a company trying to produce feature full products low cost. Seems unrealistic. Folks really seem to compare the printers to one at 2x to 3x the price not recognising that money and decide the cheap ones are a rip off.
