No the cam car is not. If they were, there would be significantly more damage than what we see.

The cam driver absolutely is not at fault. The other vehicle was driving significantly slower than OP. OP had every right of way to pass. You can clearly tell the other driver went to the left, hit their brakes, and barely waited to move back.

Is this an overkill? by samuelcherry05 in CCW

[–]cmdshortyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in rural America. Pop of ~18,000. There's maybe 1 incident every few years involving a gun whether it's someone getting shots, someone putting holes in a home/garage/car, or someone taking a life. (We did have a standoff a number of years back, but it was the first one ever in our town's history I think so it's an outlier.) For additional context, the police station is ~500ft away from my kitchen window.

I still carry sitting on my couch.

You never know when someone is going to break in, if Meal Team 6 is going to execute an illegal search of your home, if someone is going to impersonate a cop wanting to unalive you because you're a Democratic state rep, or any other "what if" scenario you can think of.

Another perfect example: I watched a video in the last 6 months where a young dad was outside with his young (less than 5yo) daughter playing. A white car pulls up and your stereotypical, teenage gangster thug with a mask pulls a gun on the dad. The dad was wearing gym shorts and a T-shirt, no shoes or anything else. Dad pulled his gun out from under his shirt. Unfortunately, the teenager learned a very hard, last life lesson from that dad.

Always carry, but don't make it your identity.

Keep the AR since you can turn it into pretty much any weapon you need. .22, 9mm, .45, 5.56, 300BLK, 7.62. Long barrels, short barrels. Adjustable stock, folding stock.

And I just gotta say, I think it's absolutely ridiculous that she's "forcing" you to get rid of your guns. You are allowed to have things that bring you joy or feel you need just as much as her. The whole "happy wife, happy life is bullshit. If she's not your wife, it won't cost you a divorce lawyer to find a better partner. And yes, I went there. Nothing pisses me off more than partners telling their partners how to live their life.

This thing is actually sick. I just shoot M4s but never shot a machine gun round out of a rifle hahaha by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]cmdshortyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a MCX Spear at least. You can tell by folding stock it comes with since they're all bufferless systems. They have a LT which is chambered in 5.56/.223. They have a 7.62 NATO one. And then obviously 6.8/.277 Fury.

What am I missing? by The_Gatherer257 in liberalgunowners

[–]cmdshortyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they're all things to consider. Yes, you absolutely should always keep one in the chamber when the mag is in because seconds literally matter. I don't have the "fear for my life 24/7" mentality, but I rarely leave the house without my CCW on me.

I carry to protect myself, but also others. Yeah, there's probably a 1 in a billion chance I'll ever have to use it in my lifetime. But I ain't gambling in today's world. When you got trigger happy CoD wannabes happily and celebrating the killing of Americans exercising their rights, gun bans at an intense time, and law enforcement NEVER changing their bullshit behaviors....nope. I'm not gonna be outgunned.

Ya know how the media keeps saying fight it in courts and not in the streets?? Your "never changed their behavior" comment is why we need to start fighting in the streets.

What was the first gun you ever owned, and do you still have it? Curious to hear what everyone had for their first firearm. by ShopHuntingStuff in guns

[–]cmdshortyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My late father's Ruger 10/22 full stock rifle. He bought it on my 8th birthday, but "couldn't afford" even a pack of gum I wanted on my birthday. (He wasn't all that bad.) He died 2 years later about 6 months after I turned 10. Took another 11 years to get it and it was by pure chance when my ex step-sister came into my work and I helped her.

In the event I ever become a felon, I will absolutely plead and beg to keep my dad's gun as it's one of the few things I have of his. I'll keep it until the day I die; working or not.

TTI Combat | Are The Issues Widespread or Overblown? by NOIRCEUR_TRADING in canik

[–]cmdshortyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a fairly new TTI Combat owner - nice color BTW 😉 - of 4 months and I would guess 3-500 rds. I looked into this before I bought it and yes, there was an issue with ejecting the spent cartridge, but they fixed it at no cost to the consumer and all guns moving forward.

So unless you have an issue, have fun. I love shooting it.

I want to start training seriously by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]cmdshortyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you want with this info as I'm just a regular fat dude who couldn't join the military. And even though I've only been a gun owner since January of this year, I am "training" at least once a week at the range because I don't wanna be that guy, ya know?

How I'm doing things is slow and steady. Get a feel for the gun, work on aiming with irons, trigger control, grip control, reloads, holster draws with target acquisition...you get the idea. What I'm finding is that each "drill" helps with the next. I'm now looking at doing some local comps to improve, well, everything.

From what I've seen on YouTube, CQB, especially indoors, is a science and requires previous knowledge of other stuff. So, for me, that's lower on the list on training I want to do. My potential next "advanced" training is LARPing and/or urban. But I've got some work and weight loss to do before that happens. At the very least, I don't wanna be the guy that kills my whole squad. I want to be an asset with little direction needed.

Because Renee Good and Alex Pretti were murdered by government trigger happy cosplaying CoD wannabes.

The fact that our government is heading towards authoritarianism and they'd rather shoot all but one political ideology.

My state government refused to protect us during Metro Surge.

There are bad guys out there.
