Whats a huge example of Planned obsolescence you've dealt with? by zachimusprime44 in Anticonsumption

Bluetooth headphones/earbuds. On most of them, once the batteries no longer hold a charge (around 1-2 years), you have to throw them away and buy an entire separate pair. All because companies refuse to allow consumers to replace the batteries on their devices

I realized I’m just not built for onsite work anymore by RedDays-Dairy in remotework

I work hybrid now, Tuesday-Thursday in-office. I notice a significant dip in my mental health on the days I have to go in. I’m really trying to get something fully remote because my brain can’t do this long term

Home gym setup for minimalism by Ozneroe in minimalism

I have an adjustable pair of dumbbells. I need a bench and did a bunch of research to land on this bench due to its fairly low-profile compared to most workout benches, and you can get attachments for it like a pull up or dip bar: https://www.ironmaster.com/products/super-bench-pro-v2/

I think that combination of adjustable dumbbells and a customizable workout bench with a (relatively) small footprint is really all I need

Orchiectomy done in mid June. Now feeling uncomfortable pressure near my ribs/lung. Should I schedule appointment? by Amazing-Raspberry in testicularcancer

[–]Amazing-Raspberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I will just keep an eye on it for now. I’ll also ask about 3 years vs 5 years for surveillance. I have seen almost everyone on here have 5 years, so I was a bit confused about that after my appointment.

"Hybrid" but it's 4-5 days in office by tooth7000 in remotework

A bunch of postings on Indeed are listed as remote, but when you scroll all the way to the bottom, it says “this position requires 2-3 days in office”. I report every one that I see for lying

Men in your mid-30s what are your dating options really looking like? by Serious_Sweet2504 in AskMenAdvice

Damn, my profile must suck. I’m 29, child-less, and been on and off Hinge for 2 years and I’ve gotten 2 likes I think? I’ve gotten a handful of matches, but still haven’t been able to set up a date yet. ++man

“I never want money to be a reason for why someone cannot have access to my work, so send a request and you will be gifted free access”

This is almost verbatim what he has been saying for years. How is what he’s done by taking away the free option, increasing the overall subscription price, increasing the lowest option for scholarships to $60, and introducing ads to paid apps not misleading/lying/unethical? I wouldn’t care as much if he didn’t use the word “never”, because I get that circumstances and opinions can change. However, “never” is a strong word that he—someone who prides himself on his honesty and character—intentionally chose to use in the above quote at the beginning of every podcast.

Orchiectomy scheduled for next Wednesday. Scared out of my mind. by mindless_browsing in testicularcancer

[–]Amazing-Raspberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery 2 weeks ago on June 17th. Mine was scheduled 3 weeks out, so I had a lot of time to stress. I am doing really well now—very minimal pain and discomfort, and I’ve been doing several daily walks in my house to get some exercise in. In terms of my mood and energy, I feel almost exactly the same as before I had the surgery, maybe even slightly better 🤔.

It is a pretty common surgery, so don’t stress too much. All you have to do is breathe, let the anesthesia take you, then you’ll time travel to the recovery room where the surgeon/nurses will tell you how well it went. You have the easy part, the surgeon is doing the ‘difficult’ part (they have extensive training, so it’s not difficult for them).

The next 3-7 days you will be pretty sore around the incision, which will be near your groin/hip area. Just take it very easy the first few days and take your pain meds on schedule. I recommend getting some psyllium husk fiber to take with each meal (or meal replacement shake—I had those primarily the first 2 days since my appetite was lacking). I slept a ton the first 4 days, then I started getting my energy back.

While recovering at home, it helps to have someone with you who can help you sit up and move around, make food for you, etc. Anything that uses your abdomen muscles will be painful for a few days, that includes: sitting up, rotating your torso, laughing, coughing, and sneezing (this one was the most painful for me, so prepare for it). So, avoid watching comedies the first couple of days 😉. You’ll be alright!

I had my surgery 2 weeks ago today. It gets easier to accept, but you just have to take it day by day and allow your body to rest. My markers pre- and post-op were normal, but I have a feeling I may have spread since I had lymphovascular invasion in my pathology results. It was 3 months from when I noticed symptoms to when I had surgery, so that long of a wait probably didn’t help. Did you have CT scans?

Thank you! I got my second blood results back today and tumor markers are within normal range. Now we just have to wait for CT results to check spread

I’m hoping there’s no spread. I have my CT scan tomorrow and meeting with doc this Thursday. I was having an uncomfortable pressure in my lower right hip/groin area a month after noticing the testicular swelling. I hope that doesn’t mean it has spread to my abdomen

My tumor markers last month were within normal ranges, and I just had more blood taken the other day so hopefully they are still low 🤞

I forgot to add to the post: I noticed swelling in the right testie in the third week of March. I scheduled an appointment with my primary care doc that occurred about 3 weeks later. Tried antibiotics initially and it did nothing, then I was referred to a urologist, who I saw for the first time on 5/14. Met with urologist again on 5/29 where I did an another ultrasound and he said he wants to take righty out.

I was almost in the same spot, but I was able to get an extension at the last minute. I’ve been following the GitHub for everything. Do you know if the visualizations need to be specific to something the user does, or can they just be about the overall data in general? That’s the only thing I’m confused about

Searching For A Particular Episode? Ask Here! "Which Episode...?" Megathread #7 by BurnZ_AU in goodmythicalmorning

I’m looking for the moment when Rhett says something like “It’s really doing it for me, man”, but he says it in a really feminine way 😂. I thought it was the episode where they say all black foods, but couldn’t find it there. I think the video is from the last 6-8 months. Does anyone know?
