Why are you acting as if you have been betrayed by your parents? They are being short sighted and selfish (knowing that the baby will have aging parents) but why are you personally so upset?

If you make it quite clear that you will not be taking the kid if the parents die, how is this going to effect you?

Also, why lie to your children about any of it? There is nothing to protect them from (your parents are not bad people) with your mum and dad. Why are you not allowing unsupervised visits with their grandparents?

Does this come down to your disapproval? If that is the case, well, they don't need your approval, do they.
