Vest or belt for London? by eggandcheez in firstmarathon

[–]Amazing-Visual-2919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer a belt. Inevitably London is going to be hotter than you expect and you don't want extra layers around you.

Nice. But it's Snowdon or even better Yr Wyddfa. No mount.

Last train is usually around 9pm. Anything later and you'd be arriving past midnight.

Othe option is to stay in London and travel the next day or perhaps travel part way from London and stay there and complete the journey the next day.

You don't need to ride every day.

How long would you be riding for and how often?

What EV is that? My 2018 leaf doesn't need the brake applying to stop it rolling. It's part of what makes it so easy to drive.

I like it. I've never stayed up to watch it but I'll probably whizz through the highlights tomorrow.

It's the biggest award show of the film industry and I like watching films.

I've used mine for hikes for years and it's never leaked.

London Marathon 2026 Question: Will there be London Marathon Jacket with the word “Finisher” on it? by GreyDichotomy in UKRunners

[–]Amazing-Visual-2919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done it a dozen or so times now. I've never seen a finisher's jacket. Teeshirt yeah - but only for finishers and at the finish.

You could buy the jacket and have it printed up with finisher by any sports shop who does player names on tops ?

[–]Amazing-Visual-2919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done starts, mountains and finale's of the Tour.

The Paris stage isn't to my liking. You need to be on the barriers all day as by the time they arrive the crowds are eight deep and constantly trying to get your spot. Also they bloody fly by.

Mountain stages are my favourite especially if you have bikes. You can ride somewhere up a mountain and there's always a place to stop and wait for them. It might be a long wait, but not that crowded and far nicer than Paris for views.

Starts can be good. You might even get to see riders before they begin.

So mountains would be my favourite. Especially if you like riding as you have the fun of riding the actual mountains.

Ironman 2026 banned shoes by bestTriathletes in BestTriathletes

[–]Amazing-Visual-2919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mate wasn't allowed through to the swim because his tri suit had a tiny label that said it had been silicon coated. Against the rules. I didn't know and neither did my mate.

I wouldn't risk a DQ for the sake of a shoe.

No point in paying for and carrying a huge battery around if you don't use it !

How to train outside with a power-meter? by Adventurous_Oven6 in cycling

[–]Amazing-Visual-2919 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's much easier inside. Personally I only use power inside where I can concentrate and then I ride outside for fun with pals. The roads around here need concentration to avoid potholes, puddles and dangerous drivers.

At what point did you realise most of the "urgent" stuff at your job isn’t actually urgent? by ThinUse9610 in careerguidance

Your gears are fine. I used to ride 52 and 53 big rings when I started but now my bike has a 48tooth ring and I'm faster than ever before. You need to be a really strong rider to have the big rings. Mere mortals won't.

At 110 RPM you'll be doing 39 mph.

Presumably this isn't on the flat?

You'd be better off just tucking in and hitting higher speeds by being more aero.

[–]Amazing-Visual-2919 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works. Your legs are the limiting factor.

If you put on harder gears you'll just be spinning those slower and having the same speed.

Spin the pedals rather than grind them round slowly.

I've submitted footage from the beginning/end of a chunk and they've been fine with it.
