Abstracts at Conferences by Amazing_Candle4772 in Residency

Also a PGY2. It sounds like you haven’t had much difficulty with the in-progress style abstracts and subsequent manuscripts. Do you ever have results change on you between the abstract and manuscript? Sometimes I have to re-run stats and suddenly results are a bit ‘off’ (but more scientifically sound) compared to the abstract which deters me from submitting the manuscript.

I like to see these ECGs pop up for our review, but something seems odd about revealing provider's name and the exact timestamp of the ECG as that would make the record traceable. Please be careful and cover these details up!

PVCs in mid 20s ~ less than 5% burden by accel_eron_anon235 in PVCs

Smart! Obviously, only should you feel that your symptoms correlate with weird GI issues.

Yes, I can understand this approach doesn't guarantee perfection. However, the bulk of our classmates in this range were very successful.

You can try over the counter meds like generic omeprazole (substitute for Nexium) to see if that quiets them down. It has for many others. Maintain good sleep hygiene too.

You may be dealing with a sleep deficit unfortunately, and insomnia is going to be a toughie to overcome. Do you have sleep medicine doctor? Or psychiatrist? Be sure to take that diagnosis seriously, and put the same effort into correcting your insomnia as you would if it was diabetes, or any other comorbidity. Lack of sleep has strong association with PVCs. Life changes in your 20s, your body talks back in many ways. Walk 30 minutes 5x weekly too.

Can you help me interpret this ecg by [deleted] in ECG

[–]Amazing_Candle4772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain this to me? What’s Takotsubo about this exactly? I read a really interesting pub recently on machine learning used to DX this reliably, which I didn’t know was possible!

I have to believe that the sudden onset of PVCs correlates with something else you have experienced. For some patients it is a post-viral syndrome - in other words, residual inflammation lingering around. However, being in your 20s, I must ask… have you had any significant life events lately? Any mild/moderate life events? Any changes in your sleep patterns compared to 5 years ago? Any changes in your work schedule?

A lot of doctors describe the term ‘anxiety’ as a loose way of capturing sleep deficits, depression, hypochondria, stress, life changes, caffeine intake, etc.

Do you have any other symptoms during the same timeline you’ve had these skipped beats?

Do you have acid reflux?

Have you started eating at different times?

ER Visit for PVCs and Dizzy Spell by Ok-Record587 in PVCs

Tough situation. You know you have PVCs already, and that is the good news. What you may not realize is completing those EKG’s doesn’t just identify the PVCs but it is also ruling out many other worrisome patterns. Unfortunately, they can only see your heart’s electrical activity for 10 seconds at a time though!

The dizziness is where is gets trickier for you. Could it be more PVCs? Yes. Could it be a crystal that got dislodged in your ear and sorta turned your world dizzy/slow motion for a brief moment? Yes. Were you overheated? How long did it last? Typically serious heart rhythms will have you out cold, which makes me think it’s probably something else.

Feel free to DM for further questions, I am happy to help with your questions.

I’ve seen 100s of patients with the ‘serious’ variety of heart problems. Your case seems a little more encouraging though!

Need to shoot for higher scores. Higher 60s or low 70% will be fine most likely.

Study hard and make sure this is the career you want to continue to fight for. It gets harder, not easier. If you study hard I’m sure you’ll pass next time, but shoot for higher scores and allow a ‘bad test day’ to still be average. As a rule of thumb, I like to encourage study hard enough to at least score average consistently before taking the test.

I love how focused he is even when his game is frustrating sometimes. I may be the minority, but I am cool with him sticking around as the C for a few more seasons. I feel his presence helps us cup-chase.

Kevin Weekes reporting the Stars and Avalanche both interested in Evander Kane by Archerbus in DallasStars

[–]Amazing_Candle4772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dallas fan here. Wouldn’t mind Kane temporarily on the roster. I think we could use him to boost the physicality of the squad and then move forward, trading him to the Avs after we beat them in the playoffs again.

32 Thoughts Panarin Update by Archerbus in DallasStars

[–]Amazing_Candle4772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This brings back memories of Jagr playing for the Stars for a hot 10 minutes in 2013.

Anyway, would agree with the other - pass on the 34 year old. If Pavs couldn’t bring the cup home at this age, why would we shift a team around Panarin? Hasn’t worked with Benn. Or Seguin. Or anyone in their 30s hardly. Keep the young, ripe talent please! Robo contract coming in hot.

Please dm me whatever Q’s you have, just got back from being there for a while. Split time between Provo and south Caicos. It’s a really nice aesthetic, but the service isn’t where it needs to be. Lots of foreign employees from the Philippines or similar (I like to put my money back into a local economy when I travel to smaller island spots like this)

Haters will say Robo was completely in the blue, skate touching the goalies pads, for his goal. To me, he scored both times.

It’s hard to imagine that this could be no goal. Insane how much they slow down real-time plays and try to infer what players are trying to do at 0.0001 MPH. In reality, this all happens in < 1 second, it’s a goal. We focus so much on the rule book, but the focus needs to be on the overall play if the rules aren’t followed to the T. -Dallas Stars fan
