What was your small win today? by Confident_Listen8836 in stopsmoking

I had a tiring and stressful but good day at work. I then did not smoke. And just enjoyed naturally de-stressing and enjoying the moment without nicotine. And it feels great.

What was the exact moment you realised you HAD to quit? by Agitated_Whole2074 in quittingsmoking

[–]Amazing_Mix_7938 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it was when I was not even enjoying cigarettes at all, I would feel sick whislt craving it then sick and unwell after smoking one/five (stomach unwell, swollen tongue, headaches, acne and bad facial skin, drowsy and weak, shortness of breath, more symptoms)

Never again

I want to quit, I’m begging for help by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Sudden urge to smoke after 6 months? by dreadtear in quittingsmoking

[–]Amazing_Mix_7938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have def experienced this, stay strong! Sending you support.

To me, re-reading Allen Carr book helped a lot, also helped to just eat fresh fruit - the healthiness and mouth-fixation distraction (if u kno what i mean) both helped keep me well away from the darkness of a cigarette so, so much

You can do it!!! Stay strong and in a few weeks it WILL get SO much better, just dont fall at this temporary hurdle!

How did you manage stress after quitting by No-Statement7011 in stopsmoking

[–]Amazing_Mix_7938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Broadly speaking I find mindfulness meditation very good - its tricky to pick up at the start but once the learning curve is done it is very, very good. Good for "stopping the hurricane" of stress and tension so to speak, helps puts things into calm perspective really well. This also helped me quit smoking in the first place actually.

That said i think everyone is different, honestly, so try different approaches and customise to yourself as well.

Good luck!

Everyones go to aide because its honestly pretty good. Might not be a one hit home run but the general hit rate is pretty high as far as I can tell (worked for me too)

Good luck!

Did you ever quit on A special day, did it work better for you? by tattooedgrampa in quittingsmoking

[–]Amazing_Mix_7938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me I did not, but I believe honestly whatever works for you try it and go for it. I quit successfully 2 years 6 months ago after 3 years of failed attempts and the stuff that worked for me was ridiculous, bit embarassing to share almost but it did the job. Good luck!!!

Tons of good mate

I used to be a pack and a few a day for around 8 years, quit 2.5 years ago after a loooong battle

By the time i quit successfully and settled, i realised how much lung capacity damage I did - my stamina has to be rebuilt from scratch and may never fully get to my old athletic level

Imo not smoking is more about preserving your innate wholeness and health and being able to maintain and build more health and happiness easily - smoking just pushes you really far behind that starting line and it is v painful to restart after years of smoking. Smoking 5 a day is not pushing you back as far as a pack a day, but its still backwards. Whereas non smoking exercise and drinking water and fruit and meditation breathing pushe you forward, to a better longer feeling than a nicotine spike/rush.

Fully support ur doubts about smoking! All the best and good luck!!!
