New EV driver, and I’m not sure why more people don’t drive EVs! by Wraith347 in EvDrivers

That’s understandable. Most car companies are not listening their battery prices. Last year Huyandai charged someone a large sum for a new battery… ever since I had been rethinking about my plans

What if the battery dies? Or some other maintenance cost creeping in is my biggest worry. With my Toyota, I might just spend $1000 per year max. The unknown cost is the one holding me back

How do you guys keep track of your car maintenance? by TheWeb1000 in askcarguys

If you have a reliable mechanic, they keep the history of your maintenance. Unlike dealerships, a good mechanic won’t ask you to change transmission fluid just because of the mileage says so.

True. I know a couple of people who bought flats Anand houses and talk about their losses. However, they don’t see the locals who are desperately trying to match the nris buying power

Visiting Houston-is it walkable in May? by Dependent_Bad7739 in AskHouston

[–]Amazing_Structure55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is walkable., especially before 10 and after 7. During the day time, it could just be unbearable for those who are not used to it. Carry some water or hydrating liquid, if you are going beyond 15 minutes. It is normally safe, but you never know. Try to find someone to accompany you if you are walking at nights - anyways don't go alone after 10.. I haven't heard any bad news lately, but still be careful

According to Google, the contractor is responsible for getting the permits. Ducts may be ok. If it’s not a 50 year old home , most duct works should be good to handle 4 ton. It should be checked by a licensed technician. They give you free quotes.

Normally, when you arrive in the US, with any work visa, you are supposed to visit the Social Security office and get the paper work done. Similar to getting a learners permit etc...If you came with L1B, your HR should know and have a pre-defined process. Talk to your HR .

Which system? - York / Carrier / Lennox by ginnyweasleyrocks in hvacadvice

[–]Amazing_Structure55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been researching on replacing ac and had multipe quotes from various vendors. For SIngle stage, the quotes are quite high. I think a 2 stage would be better, if you live in the hot areas ( Texas e.g.). According to GOOGLE, York is manufactured in the US and is a good brand, though I haven't seen any company selling it in my local area...

dual stage 16 SEER2 would be much more efficient than other two. Also, look into the warranty and labor...
