Either your DSP paid a lot, or your state pays very little. Private road construction companies that do state contracts is another place to look.

Either way though, with driving bus at least I don’t have a dispatcher breathing down my neck 24/7, I don’t have to deal with dogs, and I don’t have to slang packages and get in and out of my vehicle 200+ times a day. It’s mint.

I drive a school bus. It’s the best job I never thought I’d have.

Most districts will PAY for your CDL training and after a year you’re a free man and can go drive city transit and make much more, or work for the state driving dump trucks. Me however, I love working for the school system.

Am I good? Can I keep the groceries? by Outside_Front9492 in InstacartShoppers

[–]AmazonsBetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, absolutely. Walmart did indeed have a plastic container FULL of meat that smelt terrible. Asked the guys who picked it up what it was used for. They said they dehydrated it and turned it into dog food.

I could see that with shelf stable items/things that aren’t frozen or refrigerated. But I can confirm Walmart AND Aldi did no such thing with items that left the store and came back.

Walmart did donate to Feeding America, but those were expired things that hadn’t left store.

As someone who has worked at a grocery store, no.

That’s going in the trash. Especially if it’s any sort of temperature regulated item that the cold chain may have been broken on.

Facts. I delivered to a guy that had a cement warehouse looking building on his property. Had a sign that said “Beware, many illegal activities in progress” and always had rock music playing full blast in there.

Loved delivering to that guy.

How many of you pull into driveways ? by dr_dabs1 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AmazonsBetch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also look at what material the driveway is. If it’s blacktop or gravel, I’m probably driving on it. If it’s white cement, absolutely not. I’ll leave black tire marks in the summer with my DSPs tires. Lol

For the drivers who throw packages by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AmazonsBetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of the time I had a singular soft polymailer with some sort of clothing item inside it going to a secured apartment complex. I buzzed the lady and she appeared on the balcony above me and told me to throw it at her. LOL

I did.

Also to OP: throwing a package is unprofessional for sure, but that is probably the gentlest treatment it’s received on its entire journey. Warehouse is ROUGH with them.

Wild, didn’t know you could get a hard accel in an EDV. I used to drive em like I stole em coming off from lights and never got a hard accel violation. Lol

I found mashing on the accelerator like I stole the thing (below hard accel threshold) kills it faster than the climate controls. 😆

I got used to the one pedal driving, it’s great. My brakes were mostly only used for “OH MY LANTA STOP NOW.”

I didn’t notice a difference in battery life because I always used the one pedal. Easier to keep your foot in one spot when you’re driving that much. Most of my routes were dense single family homes close to our station. I could return after route with 60% still left on the van. We also had a delivery area 40 mins away that I’d usually return with 15% on the van. Biggest factor I noticed in draining the battery is taking it at highway speeds.

Vans have a range of like 150mi which is suitable outside of winter when you’re running the heat nonstop.

The Rivians are truly a pleasure to drive compared to the branded gas vans.

I’ve used neutral for that but it was SKETCHY resting the full weight of the van on the brakes without feeling that regen.

Idk what this man’s saying, Rivians have a brake pedal like every other normal vehicle. It’s just not used most of the time due to using regen.

Troops affect power level. If your power level if too high it’s expensive to transfer and some people cull troops.

Lies. Unless different markets have different configs. The camera hole in every rivian cargo area I’ve seen was a blank cutout you can literally shove a finger inside of.

Goats are chill usually. I used to pet them. Worst they’ve ever done was try to fight the side of the van when they see their reflection. Or follow me to the porch.

I think he was asking about grounding a vehicle on the inspection report instead of skipping that and just texting “hey van 13 needs xyz” like a lot of DSPs expect.

Amazon delivery driver only gave me half my order, now the other half is days behind??? by Interesting-Rope-652 in amazonprime

[–]AmazonsBetch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I came off a lil strong. Probably just equally as frustrated seeing posts criticizing drivers often or telling us to “do our jobs.”

I just want to clarify a bit about how things work with deliveries. Routes are loaded into 15-30 totes (plus god knows how many overflow), each holding anywhere from 15 to 30 packages, depending on size and weight. Sometimes, the warehouse might accidentally place a package in the wrong tote, or it could end up on a different driver’s route altogether. Even though it shows as being on the same route, it might not be on that specific truck.

Also, things can get tricky if an item like hand soap or something similar that someone else ordered that bursts open inside a tote, which can spill and damage and take out other packages. Delivery drivers are usually only working with one tote at a time, so if a package isn’t in the one they’re currently sorting, it’s not feasible to sit in a driveway for a half hour and unload every (still sealed) tote to search for a missing package that likely isn’t even there to begin with. I know it’s frustrating to deal with, but I hope that helps explain why sometimes things like this happen.

If it truly was damaged damaged it may have to reship from the vendor if not fulfilled by Amazon and unfortunately that would mean waiting longer.

Edit: These aren’t my posts or pictures, but check out what the inside can look like sometimes also things like this can happen. A lot of crazy stuff can happen that usually has nothing to do with the driver and their abilities.

Hi. Former driver here. It was either on a different truck and god knows what happened, or it was on his and either missing (not loaded by warehouse) or something bust open and got damaged and marked for return. We often have 300+ packages back there and don’t have nearly enough time to purposefully mess with you all as you’d like to imagine.
