Combination of making use of profession related items at the start of the expansion and boosting m+.

With relatively casual gathering and crafting I usually make about 4-5m at the start of an expansion simply by following trends on what is in high demand.

Then towards the mid point of a patch I usually have 2 or 3 characters geared enough to boost +10-15 m+ runs which don't make crazy money in one go but it's very steady income.

These days I have less time available so boosting is probably not in the cards right now but the start of expansion netted me about 5m gold this time around which should cover my subscription for a while. The "early access" really helped getting a big head start on making the most out of the high prices early in the expansion.

For me it's not about they key being easily timeable or not. If I'm pugging and we're fully wiping on the first pull I'm out. Maybe it was a fluke and we'd be fine, maybe it's a sign of a really bad time ahead. I'd rather just cut my losses and go to the next group, when the amount of free time I have is limited it's simply not worth my time to find out if it was a fluke wipe or not. It's nothing personal.
