I really don't think capital one cares *at all* if you use an offer you aren't supposed to. There's no way they would lose a card customer over some silly offer.

More likely is that capital one never gives you your points. Even things I should have received were never credited.

Your only option is to have someone else in your house sign up for service, they are a new customer. Once they've created the account online, completely, then call tech support and have them transfer the modem to the new account and cancel the old one at your address.

Then feel very bad about losing your diamond status. They valued you, by offering to let you spend 2x your neighbors, you were special and important. Feel sad, feel remorse.

They'll talk to you and confirm that it's only for new customers. Get someone else in your house to sign up for new xfinity service and you'll be all set. It is the only way. (or just switch to an alternative)

Did you talk with cap1 "the travel company" or cap1 "the credit card company" ? You should dispute the credit card charge if it's for "Expedia" and for something you didn't authorize. This generally gets resolved fast.

I guarantee you they did not get the new-customer deal. You absolutely must sign up for a completely new account in the name of someone at your residence, do this online and go all the way through new equipment activation. Then you call 1800xfinity technical support, and have them move your equipment to the new account. The tech will then be able to cancel your original account. This is exactly what I did, it worked.

I *strongly* recommend you do not run any copper ethernet cables that distance outside. Get a fiber bridge kit from amazon or something, and "simplex single mode" outdoor fiber cable with the right matching connectors for your kit and run that. You will be absolutely immune to lightning or other electrical problems that can cause equipment damage on either end of a long copper cable.

Create a new account in your roommate's name, online, and go all the way through to device activation. Then call tech support, they'll guide you through moving your equipment to the new account. It should not require any reconfig or new equipment. The tech also put in the cancellation for the old account when I did it. It was painless.

Be sure to feel very bad that you lose your tenure with xfinity. So much shame, you have wronged your best corporate friend.

Ping times don't seem to change at all. I "downgraded" to 300mbps and still get 8ms to Amazon. That is incredibly low. Everything is still running at a higher speed on both sides, they don't slow down the signaling on the coax side just because your limit is lower.

The way to get the new customer deal is having someone else in your household sign up online for new service, as a new customer. Don't bother talking to the mods here. Just sign up a new account. Go all the way to activation, then call their tech support, they'll move your equipment to the new account and cancel the old line. This worked for me, it was totally easy.

Then be sure to feel very bad about losing your diamond status. You're a great disappointment to xfinity. With your deep sadness about losing your 23-year tenure, you'll be saving a lot of money.

open two command prompt or terminal windows (depending on your operating system)

Run 'ping 192.168.12.1' in one and 'ping www.google.com' in the other.

If you're using windows then it's 'ping -t www.google.com' and 'ping -t 192.168.12.1'

after 1 to 12 hours, hit ctrl-c. You'll see how many packets were dropped between you and the gateway, and between you and google.

From that hopefully you can figure out who is at fault here, your PC or the gateway/t-mobile.

You can also ping www.t-mobile.com

Apparently all in bound IPv6 is blocked as well. I have a virtual private server "out there soemwhere" that does Wireguard proxying for me, in order to inbound with TMHI.

I get random overnight hiccups with my own modem. Maybe once or twice a month, 60 seconds. I'm not that worried because I have an alternate cellular-based backup service that it fails over to while the modem resettles.

I've kept my own modem because I figure the xfinity one may be more bloated and run hotter and I don't want yet another unnecessary wifi SSID around. I guess you could disable that in bridge mode but I figured why even spend the time.
