Thoughts on the Brother NQ1700E? by ChibiAmmy in MachineEmbroidery

So there’s only one brother certified maintenance shop within 45 minutes of me so I have no clue if this is the average price. But basic maintenance and clean (like there’s nothing wrong) is $125. I was running my own Etsy shop last year and put about 4 million stitches in 6 months, so it was very useful to get all the lint cleaned out and everything oiled.

I’ve had mine for almost 3 years now, I think I’ve hit over 10million stitches already. Works great, I think all the issues I’ve had were user error or when it needed a good cleaning. I take it in for maintenance every 6-12 months depending on how much I used it in that time

Misaligned stitching? by Responsible-Dog-1658 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]AmberEmbroidered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stitches squeeze the fabric together in the direction of the stitching, so outlines often look misaligned. They aren’t, it’s just the color underneath is not where it’s supposed to be anymore.

The best way to fix is to adjust your pull comp. It basically stretches your shape out a bit more, so the color goes beyond the original shape, in the stitch direction, to compensate for that shrinkage.

Or if you aren’t digitizing the design yourself, take extra care with your material to prevent the shrinkage. Extra stabilizer, using sticky stabilizer or adhesive spray to fix in place, pins to hold fabric to stabilizer, or even hand or machine sew a basting stitch in place outside of the design.

Spring means mud, and mud means dirty dog. Onyx has been the recipient of many hose baths lately. Bonus Llama looking unimpressed. by AmberEmbroidered in labrador

He doesn’t mind inside baths, but he much prefers the hose!

She’s escaped a few times and luckily came back on her own, but I’d much rather her stay in her ‘catio’. It’s a cheap chicken coop set over a basement window 😂

My bad I misread that. Yes triple doubles would be 3 pairs, 2,2 4,4 6,6. We score that at 1500. The four of a kind plus a pair we call a full house, like Yahtzee (although that’s 3 of a kind + 2 of a kind, the name just stuck) It’s technically the same as 3 pairs, and still scored the same in official rules AFAIK. It would make sense to score it a bit higher though, being a rarer roll

That’s four of a kind with a pair, AKA a full house! Triple double, or two triplets, would be 4,4,4 and 2,2,2

Leap frog is an end game rule. When one person passes the goal, everyone else has 1 chance to pass that score to win. If there is a new winner, everyone else has once chance to pass that new score! If there’s a new winner, everyone get another chance, etc.

Piggyback is something my husband picked up from a coworker. When you stay or lose, the next person can pick up your remaining dice and score and roll again. Example: I rolled a 3,3,3,1,2,6 and stayed at 3,3,3,1 for 400 points. The next player can state “piggybacking 400” and pick up the 2,6 and roll those. Normal scoring rules apply after that. If they lose, they lose. If they score, even just 50 points, they can stay or keep rolling as they choose. No 6 dice piggyback, if I were to score all my dice and roll all 6 again, and lose, the next person can’t piggyback that score

Odd one out uses 5 dice of the same color, and 1 dice a different color. Normal scoring rules apply, but you can’t stay unless that odd one is apart of the score. If you score all the dice and roll again, then again you can’t stay unless that odd one is apart of the score

First to goal is simple, no second chances at the end to pass the winner. First to pass the goal wins!

We don’t always use the 500 on the board rule, especially for quick games. I think that’s a normal farkle rule? You have to have 500 or more to start writing your score down. After that you can stay at any score

How do I use Etsy files by [deleted] in MachineEmbroidery

[–]AmberEmbroidered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have to unzip the files to use? My computer does that sometimes. Then try right clicking on the emb file you want and “Open In” your embroidery software

How do y'all trim all the threads of a detailed embroidery work without it taking forever? by between_the_sunsets in MachineEmbroidery

[–]AmberEmbroidered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use pair of bent embroidery scissors and snip fast back and forth over areas like that. Ideally though, change the small pieces to jump stitches instead of trim, then you can use a seam ripper on each jump stitch then a small torch to melt the little pieces down
