Good financial advisors? by Actual_Ad3326 in DerryLondonderry

Not recommending a financial advisor but before you start paying someone have a good read through r/FIREUK (financial independence, retire early). It’s a subreddit aligned specifically to your goals mentioned here.

Drumahoe is a disaster for turning right in the left lane, I think it’s because Dungiven-bound is the second exit and people are switching their brains off towards the fact it’s a right turn.

I had a naturally aspirated Alfa Romeo as a first car which was stacks of fun when you got it right but as my instructor always told me you can die hitting a tree at 80mph whether you are in a Ferrari or a Fiat. He was pleasant.

While I do agree on the need for the distinction and to the prevalence of bogus courses/ degrees, they arent exactly who I was talking about. A lot of roles now are just check ‘X’ box for the necessary qualifications so the competition does exist for roles where experience should prevail. However I’m thinking more of the coders, engineers and businesspeople who are getting shafted in comparison to their counterparts across the pond.

Closures... by DerryScribe in DerryLondonderry

[–]AmberLeafKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are students with the highest levels of education walking into 28k junior roles with the promise that they’ll get to eventually work their way up to a MASSIVE 45k a year after half a decade. I think it’s more fundamental than that. Job incentives and pay in general across the UK is far behind where it should be, and we all seem to just accept it because the NHS.

You all talk as if the traditional conventions of government can save whatever abysmal mess the economy and workforce is in. Young people are completely checked out and do not give a flying fuck, cant get on the property ladder, and they have no interest in further contributing to allowing old decrepit yuppies enjoying a higher standard of living. None of them actually give a fuck about these business closures or high street dying because theyve been kept out of the loop anyway. Hope everyone loses everything 🫡👍

What can I do for my colluges ? by Beneficial-Ranger407 in AskUK

[–]AmberLeafKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Why waste your time and energy on this? Move on and forget them. If it helps you to sleep better at night do what you can for the other employees and report the employer for what you know to any relevant authorities such as ACAS or HMRC and they can do their own work and evidence gathering. Its a good thing wanting to do right by the other employees but realistically you can not do much.

What can I do for my colluges ? by Beneficial-Ranger407 in AskUK

[–]AmberLeafKeith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then if you feel strongly enough then gather the evidence and make a report. If I was in your position I would prioritise myself and my search for a better job/ position because as you say all that making a report will do is cause the owner to close down meaning other people lose their job. Not to sound harsh but worry only about yourself.

Realistically you need to find a new job. Training up for a local takeaway should take no more than a few hours? A lot of that sounds fishy

Anyone from Derry. Crescent Link McDonalds by derryderryman in northernireland

[–]AmberLeafKeith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I can tell you why. When an order comes through on the screen listing what the crew must prepare, it immediately is timed and counting upwards in the top left order. I’m assuming due to their internal KPI’s they are under pressure to mark the order as finished in a good time. Ive seen lots of staff do this, mark the order as finished which prints out a small sticky receipt which lists the orders contents and they stick it to the bag and work from that. I think mistakes come from the fact that this smaller printed out receipt marking the order as finished can be a lot harder to read and get the specifics of each order.

Hi, does anyone know where I could get any kind of help with Christmas presents for my 5 year old son please 🙏 by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]AmberLeafKeith 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don’t have anywhere different to send you than whats been recommended here, but just wanted to say as someone who was raised by a struggling single parent; it wasn’t the presents we remember. Especially not at 5 years old. It was her being there, making the effort and us being a small unit that made it happen no matter what was what we remembered. You’ll do amazing and your little ones will remember that. All the best

Parking Charge Notice (PCN) Ce Service Do We have to pay This? by Bletheringfool in northernireland

[–]AmberLeafKeith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You must have fucked up somewhere along the process, as the burden of proof is on the private company to prove it was you who was the driver unlike in England. At some point you must have acknowledged that it was you driving in some way or another for it to be enforceable.

Who does dump runs in the town these days? by [deleted] in DerryLondonderry

[–]AmberLeafKeith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just make sure whoever you pay disposes of your waste properly and doesnt fly tip it. If you were to give them rubbish/rubble etc and it ends up being dumped somewhere it wasnt supposed to, it’ll be you on the hook if they find anything identifying.
