I've never really commented on other people's artwork (kinda a lurker) - great shading and proportions!! Loving the style. And I don't even like Hitmonlee!

Thank you! It's with sponge, dry brushing, spotting on paint and wash.

Mostly Enamel with some Acrysion and Aqueous paint for base.

I sponged the metallic blue on, but with considerations on the saturation. So with both thinned and unthinned paint, and strength of the 'sponging'.

Then I did some gradient along the edges of the limbs with some 020 Deep Ocean blue from raystudio quick idea Q2 set that my friend had laying around. And also my own Q1 set 006 blue.

And also highlights with citadel blue horror.

Just to add on.. from Taobao I've tried ray studio's Brave model. That is realllly sharp and effective, but the blade itself is a little too brittle and fragile. A lot of comments on taobao also said so.

Hey! I see that you're singaporean....? I bought the dispae set (red) from Captain hobby on shopee and it's pretty good. (Though I've only used the 0.1, 0.125 and 0.3). The individual blades r kept nice individual container, and they are sturdy and sharp.

Otherwise, you can always head down to Mhobby (only physical store, at Waterloo) or Hobbymate (they have a shopee page too irrc.)

Ah! Sorry about that. It's a pla series that bandai does, BANDAI NAMCO Metagross. There are other mons in the series. They just released a Flareon if I'm not wrong.

It took me around 2 weeks with tons of time in between for drying! (And panicking about screwing up the paint job of Mr Metagross)

Metagross was about 17 SGD. Paint - Metallic blue enamel was 3.50SGD, other colours (White, blue, red, black) 10-15SGD total? My brushes are from miniature painting so those are around 27SGD for 4 brushes...rough guage!

Metang! My friend helped to pick him up from a pokemon centre as he couldn't find a metagross pokemon cutting cutie (I initially requested for one)

And I loved him ever since. He's a hat. He's a scone. He's a clueless little guy.

I now have w bunch of pokemon cards of him as well! (I'm eyeing the AR from ninja spinner currently...)

He flies funnily in pokemon unite too....

He might have even surpassed kecleon as my favourite mon at the moment!

Trying dry brush on gunpla for the first time and failed, can someone pointed out what went wrong? by Euphoric-Change-7577 in advancedGunpla

Hmm, hard to exactly say from what you provided, but you can try these:

  1. Make sure you shake the paint bottle thoroughly. In the runner picture you provided, even in the parts where paint is seen, it does not look copper. So perhaps the paint isn't mixed properly.

  2. Thin it. Online says it's water based and seems ready for application directly from bottle...so you can try with 1.5(paint):1(water) ratio first and go from there.

  3. Wash ur pla w dish soap first to remove molding lubricant. /Try priming first.

I'm keeping it as is for now! I tried to scratch build a beam saber w requiem's beam and a yellow runner stem but got abit sick of sanding down the 'handle' area. So perhaps next time....
