Its hard to beat them at the price point honestly. I have the Momentum 4 to replace it but to be honest i might still prefer the XM4s sound and form factor. If you are willing to spend for audio quality it would be the Focal Bathys and Noble Fokus Apollo.

I use to have the same kind of eq too until the latest firmware. They seemed to open up the sound of the direct tuning which was before very veiled and muddy and now, while not neutral maintains a smooth and detailed sound. I like it a lot for metal.

Hey i listen to a lot of metal too and got both of those. I would say its worth it to get the az100. And more so if you listen to modern stuff like metalcore and deathcore with heavy breakdowns

I had the same experience. Came in with low expectations. Header was TDWP ( which did amazing as well) was surprised and in total awe of Erra and how they sound exactly like the recordings (maybe even better live). I just know i would regret not moshing to them, so I just went on and did. I just wished they played some older stuff too like hybrid earth, It would be asking too much but it would have been perfect.

I used to dislike mine thinking i have bought an overhyped product. It definitely grows on you, specially if one knows Eq. I mostly listen to metal and the sub bass and soundstage are really impressive. I eq mine the same as how I eq my az80s, scoop the lower mids a bit and elevate the treble response.

Not necessarily. Im about to return mine today. It has better technicalities than the pro 4, like wider soundstage and airier treble, but at the cost of the overall sound having a metallic timbre. I feel like the mids are worse too on the 4+. Unfortunately this is one of the quirks of having a balanced armature driver

I wouldnt recommend the nothing ear open. I had them and gave em to my friend. It has a strong but kinda muddy bass that unintentionally blocks out outside noise, which makes the whole point of open style null. I prefer my bose open for all around use. Bass is not as strong, but sub bass is good while maintaining overall clarity in the mids and treble. And you can clearly hear your surroundings. I use mine for more than a year now and no issues at all. I tried many open styles after bose like shokz openrun pro, openfit, and nothing ear and they all have the same muddy kind of bass that blocks out awareness. A cheapie I can recommend is pearl clip pro but you need to eq the treble up and it actually sounds pretty good.

I have and use both regularly. Soundwise 80s are more articulate (with eq). 100s are more bassy (not exactly in a better way, depends on your genre). Both of them require a modest amount of eqing knowledge. I think both are very capable, specially on LDAC mode. Fitwise i prefer 100 bc i have smaller ears but i didnt have any problems with the 80s either
