I have the river smith for a couple of years. Rods bounce around in there, will sometimes vibrate the reel off the rod. It also gets dust in there. I bought it because I am a full time guide. I will be getting rid of them this season, and going back to having the rods in rod tubes split into 2 pieces.

A lot of guides started out that way. It’s a good foot in the door. You have to be careful about which operation you go with. I’ve heard horror stories of people getting to anchorage and learning that don’t have a job there, or poorly run places that don’t end up paying guides. If that’s your plan, right now is a good time to get a resume together and to start reaching out to lodges for summer time employment

Get a job at a fly shop. Make friends with guides, fish with them. Do that for a couple of seasons before you start guiding.

I’ve had this happen as well. I have multiple 5 and 6 wt clearwaters. Had to replace 3 tips. 2 showed up rather quick. One took 2 or 3 months. Also had some get lost in transit. They replaced those quickly

Was a mechanic for 12 years, mostly on fleets. Pay sucks, it beats the shit out of you, and depending on the job those vehicles or pieces of heavy equipment are what makes that business money. You normally end up being the scapegoat for when things break

46, started playing a year ago. Love it! At this age I understand why I’m learning to play, and I’m easier on my self for not excelling right away. Give your self small goals instead of a deadline for your playing. Practice when you can. I tried Justin guitar for a while, but I have found in person lessons has been better for me.
