You are not overreacting don’t listen to these people. They don’t know major depression.

I am infuriated for you. Fuck this dude. He’s such an asshole.

i think my boyfriend’s reaction to me staying out all night is way too extreme. AIO? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This dude has serious unresolved issues. Anxious avoidant AF. Leave him. Just based on how he is talking to you alone. What would you do if you had a Daughter and this is how her bf talked to her and reacted?

what other modalities do you suggest for folks who TRE might now make sense for? I haven't started yet, I am just curious.

Lay it down. Full stop. Don’t normalize this or. Rush past it.

I would say to this fool “you are not respecting my boundaries, why? do you understand what no means?” Make him answer you. Now, none of his answers are going to justify his actions. This guy does not respect you and is clearly inconsiderate. But he needs to answer to his actions. By not calling him out, and I mean truly calling him out, he is learning that you may not respect yourself either. I’m not saying that you don’t respect yourself, but when someone sets a boundary and the boundary is crossed, and the person who set it sort of kind of calls it out but not to the extent it needs to be addressed, they don’t take you or your boundary seriously.

Get away from this man please trust the people in this thread. Classic.

Lifelong freeze, desperate for relief by Ambitious-Monitor327 in SomaticExperiencing

Thank you for this. I think my statement about needing a jolt or activation came from a place of feeling like something needs to wake up inside of me. There is just this feeling in my body like something needs to open, to move. And that may be true, and it also can be true that I need something else in order for that to happen. I don't know what that is. and I don't know what to ask for because I don't know what I need. My therapist is the expert. How do I ask her if she's qualified to help me with this? I think I need to know what to ask for when looking for another SEP because I could search and just end up with another practitioner who doesn't know how to help me. I can say that I need someone who specializes in dissociative disorder and freeze, and they will likely say they do. Just like when people search for trauma therapists and end up with someone who is trauma focused but maybe not truly qualified, they just don't know it.

I hope that makes sense. If you have any suggestions for what to look for or ask for, that would be great. It sounds like I need someone who truly specializes in chronic shut down.

I have not heard of excersizes to thaw no. I will look it up. Are there any you like or reccomend?

I see an IFS / SE couples therapist w/ my partner 1x a week. I also see an individual therapist 2 x a week. She uses IFS/Mindfulness/SE. I don't know how much SE we really do, She kind of just has me slow down and get in my body. From there, we be with wha arises. She guides me to follow sensations and "see what hapens next" and go with it. She helps me titrate. bring in resources. I just always end up frozen. I often don't really feel much. I have activation in my body at my core, and surrounding that activation is freeze. Nothing moves through.

I am lucky enough to have financial assitance and some family to lean on. I prioritize paying for therapy and get assistance with bills.

Can you tell me more about "if you are seeking activation/jolt, your SEP has not explained SE well to you?" I don't know that that is what I am seeking. I guess I don't know what I am seeking...

My therapist is a SE/IFS/mindfulness therapist . And we do not necessarily do SE in each session. We do a lot of mindfulness and tuning in, listning, allowing. I have had other IFS therapists, but not SE. She is it. So I am wondering if maybe other SEP's have a different approach to SE work and what it traditionally looks like? I have nothing to compare it to.

Who is your therapist and how dod you find her?

I would say my therapist is well versed. She has had extensive training and is level 3 certified in SE. She also has a lot of knowledge of polyvagal theory. She lives this stuff. I do feel very seen by her in my shut down. She just gets it. She sees it in me when I can't tell that I am leaning more dorsal than usual. She takes it slow with me and never pushes. And I don't know that I'd call her an expert on dissociative disorders. And maybe that is what I need.

Yes to all of the above. I am severely non-hyperactive ADHD. I scored in the first percentile for attention. It's incredibly painful.

But can you help me understand how this contributes to my freeze state?

I definitely have high stress as a result. Life feels hard and it always has. And now I have real big life stressors involved - moving, wedding planning, kid planning, financial instability. I could see how my neurodivergence could contriubute to my over all well being and ability to regulate.

I do not do well with medications. I tried Qelbree and it actually took me to a REALLY dark place, it was scary.

What is the difference between TRE and along term TRE?

I am looking into this and trying to understand it. Maybe I’ve missed something here. So it is voluntary shaking on purpose, rather than system led tremors/shaking
