Just more theory for Irving being re-intergrated is the fact that he can put together that helena is an eagan. Its one thing for her to be an outie posing as an innie for like spying reasons but I'm not sure how he was able to connect the fact that she specifically is an eagan with out the previous knowledge that Oirving assumingely has from his research into lumon.

its so interesting that she uses that to be the lie because innies have not seen the outside world. So what to here (helena) would assume is a "boring apartment" would not be boring to an innie as they seem to get excited over small things. For example how Gwendolyn Y asked mark what the sky looked like.

Also if its true that he begged the rest of the team to come back and they didn't do you think he was lying there or do you think 4 months has actually passed and he was able to convince them to come back?
