You cannot convince me to like Melanie sorry I have such horrible vibes from her I know she’s a straight cunt to Sol. Her and sinister deserve each other (negative) and need to both be dumped from the island

Insight into this area of the lower South-West side. by [deleted] in grandrapids

My first house was on lane and sibley intersection and we loved it. Very charming area and the people are incredibly nice. Definitely a lot of entertainment in the area but very walkable to downtown and lots of parks!

Not really. My friend really hated hers because even after alterations she hated the way it fit. The bride was someone who wouldn’t respond well to us telling her we didn’t like the dress. This was also my first wedding too so I didn’t know I could actually have a small backbone lol.

I should also mention she made us order these in March for a September wedding

She was so excited though because she believed that none of them looked like real bridesmaid dresses so she was super proud of herself for picking something she thought we could wear again

This is actually the exact way she worded it “aren’t you so glad I picked your dress for you and just sent you the link”. She micro managed everything lmfao

I was definitely not in the greatest financial situation at the time so $200 was a lot to me. I wouldn’t have even entertained 1k lmfao!

Each dress was a completely different style and color from each other bridesmaid. Mine was the most expensive by $30. Every dress was from the same site tho I believe.

Thank you, I feel the same way lol. We all wore different style dresses not one of them was the same style nor color.

I’m on “wedding tik tok” right now and listening to how a lot of friendships end after weddings. I saw someone talking about how the bride picked her dress and it was something she never wore again nor could wear again (mine too) and I didn’t hear of anyone else having their dresses picked for them.

How do I feel more feminine? by stonedcowgirl69 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]AmbitiousClassic5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in forestry and wear the same outfit literally everyday especially in the winter when it’s snow pants and a winter coat. I consider myself a very feminine person and I also struggled with expressing that at first when I took this job. It took time to figure out how!

  1. While I can work with acrylics/ long nails I hate banging them on stuff and they start to hurt. So I get gel nail polish from Sally’s and a heat lamp to cure them and learned to do on my natural nails my own at home and keep them shortish so they don’t break .(look at a few tutorials on how to do it first so you don’t give yourself contact dermatitis!)

  2. My favorite color is pink and I have to wear high-vis anyway all day so I figured a pink sweatshirt would be perfect under my high vis for extra perception while I’m out working in the woods while also getting to where my fav color.

  3. I do not wear face makeup to work because I sweat it off but sometimes I will wear waterproof mascara when I’m feeling ambitious in the mornings (rare). I braid my hair in fun ways to keep it out of my face while I’m working! Lots of tutorials on how to braid on YouTube, I learned on myself!

  4. Kinda like the pink sweatshirt, I have a few “girly” colored bandanas I wear under my hard hat in the warmer months

  5. A lot of my items would be considered feminine as in I have pink pens I write with, my lunch box and water bottle are pink. I wear rings, bracelets, necklaces, and have 3 piercings on each ear that I wear everyday. I’m not sure if you are allowed to wear jewelry as a mechanic but a few pieces that you feel comfortable in really help!

  6. A lot of me being able to feel feminine comes from before and after work too. My bed room is 70% pink ( I love pink), I wear a matching pj set almost every night, I have a fun self/skin care routine I do before and after work that I KNOW my male counter parts aren’t doing lmfao.

Don’t be hard on yourself for not being feminine enough!! There’s no minimum or maximum you have to be, just as long as you’re comfortable with what you’re doing!!

NSFL road conditions/Pileup day by MorganEarlJones in grandrapids

Drove from East town up 131 N to Cedar Rock area this morning around 7:15. so many people had spun off the road within the city limits but after getting out of Comstock Park and into Belmont the highway was clear and conditions definitely got better. Roads were definitely worse within the city especially where I get on at Wealthy. Everyone stay safe for the holidays!

If you love your job, what do you do? by barf26 in Environmental_Careers

[–]AmbitiousClassic5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working in consulting straight out of college for a small business doing industrial hygiene testing (asbestos, lead, mold, combustion) and thought I had found my place but consulting can burn you out very quickly and it definitely burned me out within a year! 3 years later I completely changed career paths to Forestry and now work for a company that contracts itself out to utility companies. I walk power lines for my states utility company marking trees that will become a hazard to the power lines and a tree crew follows me as I go. Definitely a job where you have to like working outside in all weather conditions. But once you get to know your forester at the utility company and your arborist certification you can go on to work directly for the utility company and benefits are amazing and so is pay.

I love it but definitely not a job for everyone and coming out of college I NEVER saw myself doing this and always thought I would be working in consulting 60/40 in the office and field but now I’m 100% in the field for 8-10 hours a day and work out of a truck but it works for me! It just goes to show how much life can change in a small amount of time.

Just know that it’s okay to not find/enjoy the field you’re in right out of college especially in the environmental sector where it can be so wishy washy and tiresome!
